    Open Device Manager in Windows.

Then browse to your display card and open properties.

Then go to the "Details" tab and look at "DEV_XXXX" to find the matching one.

    ;)

I have already gone to Display adapters, choose the 8400m gs, clicked on properties, went to details. My question is, from the details tab their is a drop down menu, which parameter in that drop down menu do i choose?

When you overwrite the modded inf into the extracted driver folder, the driver will identify your card by itself at the installation sequence.

Look at "Hardware Ids" from the drop down menu.

Install it. If it works it works, if it doesn't get another .inf

I've DEV_0427 too, what driver version are you trying to install?

Yes you can still install it, but...

It's better to find an inf that has a matching DEV_ID. I assume you're doing text search inside the inf file? The LV2G driver packages that came with OEM infs, the best would be finding one that has a matching DEV_ID AND SUBSYS_ID, although it is not easy to find one that has a matching ID for both, so try at least to find one with a matching DEV_ID.

With the modded inf, you will probably not find a matching SUBSYS_ID. Only the driver packages that come with OEM infs like 174.74 for example, those you will have a higher chance finding a matching SUBSYS_ID too. But the matching SUBSYS_ID is not as important as the DEV_ID and it's not absolutely required.

The tips above was given by a LV2G admin when I posted a question concerning OEM infs.

For my Lenovo laptop, I was actually able to find an oem inf that has both matching DEV_ID and SUBSYS_ID in the 174.74. But like I said in the other thread, I still went back to the 169.28 because I don't really play games anymore and the temp was lower.
