Looks like we're heading for the summer drought so better find some games already out there to keep you busy for the next several months. Only things of substance through July, that I see coming are:
Velvet Assassin - April 28
Battlestations Pacific - May 12
Necrovision - May 25
Damnation - May 26
Storm of War: Battle of Britain (for you sim heads like me): June 1
Prototype - June 9
Batman Arkham Asylum - June 23
Overlord II - June 23
Splinter Cell Conviction - June 30
Bionic Commando - June ???
Anyone else see anything else?
Out of these, personally I'm only really interested in Velvet Assassin, Prototype, and Splinter Cell Conviction.
I know there's Terminator Salvation, X-Men Origins, and Transformers but I never include games based on movies because they suck 99% of the time.

On the other news, consoles are getting alot of good games and most of the titles you listed are multiplatform titles aswell.
Anyways E3 is in summer so we'll be hearing some new announcements made there.
But still, this year there are games like :
Wolfenstein (June)
Red Faction: Guerrilla (June)
Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood (June)
The Sims 3 (June)
Battlefield 1943: Pacific (May)
Fuel (May)
Battlestations: Pacific (May) -
Screw games this year, though I am really looking forward to modern warfare 2.
Bring on 2010. Fallout: New Vegas FTW -
Battlefied 1943 is coming in MAY for consoles? Crap!
-
Call of Duty: Modern Warface 2 (6) is coming out by the end of the year, right?
That'll be a good game! -
Actually I listed the games what are also coming to PC in the next few months, console game list would have been twice as long.
But yes, BF 1943 is slated for PC/PS3/X360 this may. -
bioshock 2?
mass effect 2?
come on .... wish fable 2 would hit .....to late now though
went to gamestop and got a release date list .... there is like 30-40 games coming out this year -
-
Mass Effect 2 is also at fall.
This topic is about the games in the next few months. (Up to June, then?)
And Fable 2 isn't anything good tbh. -
There is another Splinter Cell game coming out?! Thanks for the heads-up, I'm gonna go check it out
-
dont diss fable 2 ... i liked it on xbox
o sorry thought u ment liek whole yearsorry
-
Overlord 2 should be great, I dont' regret getting the 1st one and spending several hours in the dungeon whacking monsters for lifeforce. Parodying the rise of the Roman Empire with minions isn't an idea that's been done to death either.
-
Call me crazy, but I'd also like to see the console port of The Witcher be ported back to the PC. -
I had no idea... So what are they calling it? -
-
-
^^^Yeahh, I cant frikin wait for Modern Warfare 2!! Game of the year!!
...Well, at least imo. Seriously, even modern warfare is fun to play even though I beat it on veteran.
Arcade mode ftw! -
-
-
I thought COD had a good reputable name, why would they want to take it off?
Ah well, it should still be just a good. -
Im pretty sure its still going to be cod...but since its a 2nd, it would be weird to call it COD4 Modern Warfare 2?
lol I duno though -
...Eh, i guess it doesnt matter. Same game. I just cant wait.
Is there an actual official release date yet? -
via joystiq:
Aside from, uh, gameplay footage, the one thing that was deemed conspicuously absent from Modern Warfare 2's explosive teaser trailer was the Call of Duty branding. Whether developer Infinity Ward is still debating the nested sequel's final title or simply hopes to distinguish its next FPS from the other 37 Call of Duty games on shelves is up for speculation, but it's hard to argue the independent prestige that lies behind Call of Duty 4's "Modern Warfare."
An Activision spokesperson seems to agree, telling Joystiq, "At this time, all we are free to say is that Modern Warfare has taken on such a life of its own, it has become our focus now." Since Modern Warfare 2 is almost certain to spawn another iteration after it releases this November, it may be best to ditch the Call of Duty brand before we end up with something like Call of Duty 17: Modern Warfare 6: Moderner Warfare 3: Lasers are Bad News: Aerosmith.
Update: Activision has just officially announced the November 10th arrival of "Modern Warfare 2" -- sans "Call of Duty."
They are probably removing the COD branding in order to seperate Treyarch and Infinity Ward. People seem to lump them together, even though IW>>> Treyarch.
To Ahl-- release date is Nov 10 -
I don't see why so many people are nuts about COD. Granted I've only played COD: modern warfare, and Worlds at war, I didn't find either to be anything special. The weapons sucked in both of them, there are maybe 4 that I would use, and 1-2 that I enjoyed using, The AI was retarded, and the graphics were shotty at best (playing on the 360, never bothered with pc).
-
-
And with the weapons, Im thinking you barely played it and were playing World at War. Which I agree, does have sucky weapons. And the AI is frikin retarded, but in modern warfare, it is totally different. I dont know what they did from modern warfare to world at war(as far as single player) but they messed something up during the process because modern warfare crushes WaW in single player.
I couldnt stand playing WaW single player, with all the japanese running around. And the audio was horable, it was like they were right beside you when u heard them. -
WaW was a let down. Although I do enjoy playing the nazi zombie maps.
-
Nazi Zombie Ftw Whooooooooooooo
-
-
-
I'm looking forward to Dragon Age and Hearts of Iron 3.
-
I hate it that there aren't any good games coming out , and Modern Warfare 2 is so far away from now .
Gues i'll be spending alot more time on the ol' PS3 then .
Lots of killer games i hadn't had the chance to play yet .
Oh , and don't even touch Necrovision in the OP .
That game is absolutely horrible . -
Batman AA looks like best game this year so far
-
For the 360 to complete my SC collection. I still need to finish the last two, tho'. -
Who is making Modern Warefare 2 then? Infinity Ward?
...i hope... because COD4 was better than WaW. -
Infinity Ward is making it .
Good call by Activision . I'm pretty sure MW 2 is going to break some sales records .
WaW single player was boring , i had to force myself to finish the game .
Multiplayer was ok , that's all i can say about it .
I absolutely love CoD 4 , it's the second best game i've ever played . -
I do hope that Modern Warfare 2's single player campaign will be longer than the original, its campaign was very short but very sweet.
I do not play multiplayer games at all, only singleplayer and it saddens me to see many games now focusing more on multiplayer than singleplayer, I guess I am in the minority then? -
Yeah, i think itll be the top game for at least quite a few months.
WaW wasnt great, i agree with you there. I dont think it was horrible, but after i beat it, i went back to COD4 and never played WaW again.
Multiplayer wasnt bad... Im hoping MF2 will be as good, or better than COD4.
-
Yeah , i find the problem with games these days is that an average of like 10 hours of gameplay is just way too short .
But hey , if the gameplay is ace then i don't mind that much .
I'd rather play a short but exciting and innovative game , than a long , boring , 13 in a dozen kind of game , if you know what i mean . -
u guys forgot to mention street fight 4 and possibly resident evil 5
-
Resident Evil 5 is slated for "second half" of 2009.
-
Developers are making shorter singleplayer experiences because the data overwhelmingly suggests that most players simply do not put more than 6-8 hours in a game. Most are now focusing on a shorter but better game that people will actually play all the way through.
-
Not sure where they get their data, but I beg to differ... starting a poll!
-
I cant imagine that statistic being true... I always play every game all the way through. Even if it sucks. TO give it a chance.
...But you never know... -
Games for 2009:
Ghostbusters: The Video Game
Battlefield 1943
Modern Warfare 2
Star Trek Online
ALL will be played on my new Clevo Commanche M98 -
I find it a bit hard to believe that gamers like to pay for a game that will only take 6 to 8 hours to complete .
I finish like 95% games of my games in a week or so , and if it doesn't have a decent multiplayer i rarely ever touch the game again .
With some exceptions of course .
Developers make HUGE amounts of money ( and they deserve every cent of it for providing me entertainment ) , but it would be awesome if they would focus more on the gameplay and the experience that a game brings then on the profits it can make . -
I'm gonna be playing the new Downloadable content for Left 4 Dead
-
NFS: Shift is coming out but it doesn't look good, probably another thing like ProStreet
. Undercover was fun though
-
Single player games what can last hundreds or even thousands of hours are still very popular (ARPGs, like Diablo series, Sacred series or skill-based games like Monster Hunter series)
RPG's generally last 20~150 hours. (Goes for both, W & J type)
In fps-type of games, survival horror and such, usually the single-player campaign lasts for 10~25 hours, not more. And that's enough.
But, you're talking about 6-8 hours? What? So all the games should be like Mirror's Edge, where you can finish the game with two days and then forget about it? Lulz. -
Very few decent new games the next few months...
