Hi,
i have bought the new fifa 2008. now my problem is that even with every setting on lowest i still get serious framedrops. you can see my specs in my signature.
any suggestions on what steps i could take to solve the framedrops? because playing like this is not acceptable.

The thing that's probably the most likely cause of your problem is out-of-date video card drivers.
-
i have the latest 163.44 driver from laptopvideo2go.com ...
-
no clue...maybe theres a patch you can download?
-
163.69 is the latest non-beta drivers....
-
i've seen that, frazell. i have downloaded and installed this driver. now the game runs quite smooth but the menu's are very laggy? what a weird game
-
just wait for either the new patches or drivers...
-
-
yeah, man...i still prefer pro evolution to fifa any day, though!
the new one is coming out pretty soon. there's a demo pf pes 2008 already...
-
the day that the belgian jupiler league will be included in PES, i'll buy it -
I've heard about this happening... allot
Dont know much about it though....
GO FOOTBALL ("soccer") and lose the ******** [oh sorry yeah it doesnt have a real name] or ("American football") -
bump..........
-
my only hope is that PES 2008 works fine
-
the demo works perfect on my 8600.... u can see the tearing in the picture, but i guess it has to do with not having v-sync on(really pointless to not cap the fps in this game)
-
i think its a vista problem...
-
ok, people, i'll try to get fifa for xp and try it out tonite...
-
tried on XP and works perfect :S

Hi There, Had Brand New Inspiron 1520 since Friday Piece of ****
Anyway Santa Rosa T7500 3GB RAM DDR2 256MB 8600M GT
Can't play Fifa 2008 w/out it cutting out mid Game. Not to mention everything else I've tried to do sending it to Blue Screen of Death @ least 10 times.
Put Fifa 2008 into my old 3.2GHz Pentium 4 w/ 1GB Ram and it works fine except for a couple of frame stutters that were split second.
Old Computer XP SP2
New Computer Vista Home Premium
Go Figure -
Yeah, go EA Sports!
That's how the "best" football (and not soccer) game should be made! - not working on a great computer, and barely working on an old one! -
I had the same problem, but then I switched to 163.69, and they worked perfect. Switched to 163.71, but they were aweful. It's just about the drivers. For some, .71 work perfect on the same game and the same graphics card, for me, in FIFA 07 and 08, .69 work perfect.
And ohh, if anyone of you is a Scouse/LiverSpain follower, thank you for showing up in this season title race, there's always the next season! -
-
were never going to play this game
-
Well I play Fifa 08 smootly with 45+fps at 1920x1200 all maxed on my go 7800GTX and I use XtremeG´s 91.47 drivers which has never let me down. Now I´m running XP so it could be a Vista issue.

I have that resolution on my laptop screen. I own a XPS M170.
-
-
I could choose from in game settings.

All signs that you should be playing PES. FIFA's for wimps.
BTW, why are you people so quick in calling this a Vista problem? As much as I prefer XP, Vista is fine and should not be the problem here, at least not the only or dominant one. I don't have the game so can't be of much help though, is this the only game where you are having these isues? -
-
have any of u fifa o8 players noticeds that the graphics are the same damn thing of 07s?i thought fifa 08 was suppose to be nex gen
-
I was just wondering. Has anyone managed to fix this problem yet?
Thanks. -
it played fine on my 8600 when i had the game
-
Yeah I use XP on my laptop. No problems here smooth 60fps all sliders maxed at 1920x1200 on my go 7800GTX
-
i think it might be a combination of windows vista and the game, since i played on xp as well?

Hi people, sorry If i'm digging out an old thread. I face problems using either the 167.xx series or 174/5.xx series drivers.
When I use the former, both the menu speed lag and in-game FPS improved compared to my stock Dell vostro 1400 8400m GS drivers but in-game there is still lots of times where the frame drops and the game slows down a lot. This gets very frustrating.
When I use the latter (174/5.xx) drivers, both the menu speed and in-game FPS were Smooth! I was so happy but then after playing a game, the game crashed and vista had the message "Fifa08.exe" stopped working. Apparently after I enter the end-game menu, the game hung and I couldn't exit back to the main menu. All I could was click on "X" in the top right hand corner and the option to exit to windows appeared. That was the only in-game command that worked
So well I'm puzzled...I'm using 167.59 now, previously was using 175.51.
I also playd with Nvidia's control panel, trying to configure the options to optimise options (AA low, multisampling instead of supersamplng, etc) but doesn't work.
Any ideas?
Very slow framerate in fifa 2008?
