I wanted to know if the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570M 1.5G is a good card. I was told it was third in the market for mobile video cards from talking directly to a company selling gaming laptops.

Check this out for laptop GPU comparisons. Ignoring SLI and Crossfire (dual-card) setups and business-class cards, the 570m is listed as the fifth fastest single card on the market, behind the 580m, Radeon 6990, 485m, and Radeon 6970.

With ATI's cards offering a much better price to performance ratio, most people would probably suggest you look into a 6970 or 6990 and see if you can't get those for a similar or even lower price than the 570m.

Either way, though, the 570m is a high-level card. You're not likely to be disappointed with its performance as long as you realize that notebook cards are not desktop cards and there are some games that will overtax any notebook GPU at maximum settings and 1080p. Most current games should max out or come close to maxing out their settings at 1080p on a 570m, but the games with the highest graphical requirements will need to be scaled down a bit, and you'll probably have to replace it after a few years to play the newest games.

I don't know about the specific laptop's capabilities, but it sounds like a good laptop for a pretty decent price. You can spec out something similar with the 6990 for a similar price at Laptops, Gaming Laptops & Fastest, Custom Laptops - MALIBAL for example (Satori P170HM or Lotus P150HM in a 15.6" size) - but you might have to pay more for some of the less tangible things like a 2+ year warranty, and you won't get the backlit keyboard. I would suggest posting in the "What Notebook Should I Buy?" thread to get more suggestions and advice on a gaming PC, or simply reading some threads by others looking for gaming laptops around your budget.

that's a decent machine. A gen2 Sandy bridge processor, and the 570m is a decent vid card...as gcrussell1 pointed out, it is the 5th fastest mobile card that you can buy. An overclock will help it close the gap a little with its big brother the 580m

Another nice feature about that laptop is that it comes with a nice matte 1080p screen

It looks like the benefits are that you can customize it, you get a couple free goodies (Steel Series gaming headset and mouse), and free shipping, all at the same base price. There might be other reasons as well, though, such as supporting a smaller business, getting better customer service, or avoiding sales tax.
