I am looking at two notebooks currently and am just trying to get some opinions based on the two most important specs.
Which one do you think is the better buy with all things being equal except:
Notebook #1 is a i7 2670 paired with a 560m w/ 3gb of DDR5
Notebook #2 is a i7 2630 paired with a 570m with 1.5gb of DDR5.
Thank you in advance for your responses.

Get the 570m, the difference in cpu power between the two is negligible, not to mention that 90% of games are GPU limited. The amount of vram is irrelevant for the most part and they're both GDDR5 so that's all good.
-
The 570m still is better than the 560m. Futureproof too I'd say.
-
Get the second notebook as people noted, the difference between 2630qm and 2670qm is minimal at best, but a 570M is quite a bit faster than 560M, and most games today are GPU-bound.

Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
usually the notebooks that come with a 570m cost the same as a clevo/sager PH150m/NP8150 with a 6990m, and that one has quite 10-20% more power than the 570m

I am guessing that the 1.5gb 570m is from an MSI. Check out PowerNotebooks then. They have GTX580s in their PowerPro models. These are the barebone versions of the same laptops. You can probably afford it too, given that XoticPC's MSIs start at $1400-$1500.

570m is about %20 faster than 560m
-
The 570m of course. Nothing was said on how close in price theses were or how much 20% more would cost you. In any case make sure that if the 560m is chosen it's not the gimped GPU fond on some G74's.

One more question guys. What about the 570m vs. 6850m?

This site should help you with those pesky question;
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M - Notebookcheck.net Tech -
^LOL those number on that site is wrong. Seriously.
Nvidia themelves say around 26% faster performance. Comparing the numbers in notebookcheck game benchmarks you get everything from -5% - 20% better performance with 570M vs 560M. But mostly around 5-10% better performance.

LOL, yeah who do we trust?
Dag gum 7900gs and my 8800GS keeps coming unglued!
