Whats more important for running high end games on MAX(AA x8): High video memory, 2gb, or high memory interface, 512 bit? So basically what would run crysis on MAX better: 2gb 256bit card or 1gb 512bit card?

I think it would equal out at about the same because the 512 bit card would have twice the data rate... at least that's how I remember it anyway

Which GPUs are we talking about exactly? General statements can vary from model to model.

In general, a 1 GB 512-bit card will run faster than a 2 GB 256-bit card. But, that can vary widely depending on many other factors including (but not limited to), resolution, textures, clock speeds, shaders, etc.

Go with the HD4870, although it has a 256-bit bus, it has GDDR5. :D

How about not, for that price, he could get an HD 4890 which is better than the HD 4870.

Either save some money and go with a 1GB HD 4870, or go with the HD 4890. Dont go for the 2GB card.

Yeap 4890s are pretty cheap now, happy with my 4870 1GB though, 4890 is enough to max any game(maybe not the original crysis).

FYI, you are actually comparing a 2GB video memory vs 512MB since the 9800GX2 are two cards slapped together. Each card needs the entire frame buffer.

As others have said, go for a 1GB 4890.
If I were you I would wait a month to get the DX11 ATI video card. Should have good availability sometime in October.

Thats a big card so you have to be sure it can fit in your case.Aslo you dont need to put 1080P any res above 1280X800 is probably HD. 1920×1080 is full HD i think.Oh and it should max crysis/warhead and maybe crysis 2.But i really recommend waiting for DX11 ati cards since they will be released soon.

1080p looks the best :D! I plan on getting a bigger case with my video card. And I thought that this card was compatible with DX11? Oh yeah and there is no way that this card is going to max out crysis 2 based on what i have seen and heard of crysis 2.

Thats why i said to wait, crysis is a 2yr ol game.Warhead has better graphics but is also a old game.Arma2 is a game that has better graphics than crysis, and has higher requirements.

This is why you do yourself a favor and actually read the page.

    It clearly says
    3D API
    -DirectX 10.1

Also, now that its actually been mentioned, I too suggest waiting for the DX11 GPUs; the HD 5850 is supposed to hit the shelves at < $200, and word it is can compete with the HD 4870x2 and the GTX 285.

No I mean I thought that DX11 was going to work with most cards out now just true DX11 cards would be better and have a few extra features.
