My notebook buying decision has come down to Asus Z70Va vs. HP DV4000. Both would have ATI x700 :) . My question is, can the x700 run games (esp. WoW) effectively in WSXGA+, which is 1680x1050? I don't like having to play games in non-native resolutions on LCD screens. It would seem to me that getting the lower resolution of 1280x800 would work better for games. I would really like to get the Asus but I am leaning towards a lower native resolution. Does 1280x800 look good on a 1680x1050 native resolution LCD? Does the 1680x1050 scale down well? Any opinions on this?

I think the ATI x700 should be able to run WOW on the highest setting with 1680 x 1050. And even if you couldn't 1280 x 800 would look just fine.

The X700 won't have a problem with WoW at WSXGA+.

I have a WSXGA+ display on my notebook. Some games, I have to turn down the resolution to WXGA - since it keeps the aspect ratio, it doesn't look bad at all - at least the image is not distorted. During gameplay, the difference is not all that apparant.
