Oh boy not good for what i'v been hearing Vista (64 bit) and xp games. I Looked at the list of xp games that are compatible with vista.

These are the games I want to play that are compatible

    1.Alien Vs Predator 2
    2.Counter Strike
    3.Halo CE (needs a update download http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?pg=3&fid=1884)
    4. Battle Feild 2 (but as major issues)
    5. Battle Feild 2142 (32 bit and 64 bit)
    6.Counter-Strike Source
    7.Star Wars - Empire at War (32-bit/64-bit)
    8. WOW
9.Unreal Tournament 2004 - (The text to speech engine switches from the game engine to the one supplied with Vista, if you don't get voice taunts from other players, check your control panel text to speech voice to make sure it works.)

Ok so its good to know that vista will run these games but the games that have a 64 bit and a 32 bit do I have to buy the 64 bit version of the game since I have vista 64 bit? Can I buythe 32 bit games? A lot of the 64 bit games have problems with vista. So wil i still have problems installing them even though they are compaibile? I would get the 32 bit vista but i can't since my model only comes with vista 64 bit. Also with battle feild 2 do you guys run mp with any problems?

There is more hype than substance to the whole Vista 64 compatability thing. As far as 64 bit native games, my experience is with only the Orange Box games. They install fine, and run fine. The only difference is at launch, a little box at the top says "64-bit mode". Oh, also, you can call MS and have them send you Vista 32 install discs for the cost of shipping. The license for Vista is good for both 32 and 64 bit versions. Howver, as I already said, I wouldn't worry unless you run in to problems.

oh so if the 64 bit has problems I can just call Micrsoft and they will send me a 32 bit version as long as a I pay shipping? Wait it says that my laptop has the 64 it pre-instaled does that matter?

You will just have to format the drive and re-install windows. Pre-installed just means they install Windows at the factory. This isn't a console or an Apple; once you own it, it is actually yours to do with as you please.

Agreed. I've run numerous games and programs from various years and I encounter difficulties only rarely. But, Grim Fandango *shakes fist*

Here's a list of games I've run on my laptop.

    F.E.A.R.
    Sims 2
    Company o Heroes
    Assassin's Creed
    Medieval Total War 2
    Dungeon Siege 2
    Bioshock
    Oblivion
    Call of Duty 4
    Guitar Hero 3
    Counters Strike Source
    Portal
    HL, 1 and 2
    Team Fortress 2
    Civ 4
    Silk Road Online

Haven't had any issues with playing these games. I just install them like I would any other operating system. However, they are stored in my program(x86) folder not that it makes a difference.

I am dual booting with XP too and don't see much difference in gameplay. My 3dmark06 scores are about 300 points higher in XP though.

    Hope this helps.

If you have Orange Box, watch for it. All the games, when you launch, will show during the initial splash-screen before the menu loads a little box along the top of the screen that says "64-bit mode". Don't know how much it's actually doing in 64 bit, but it is at least something different.
