    Hey Gamers,

So I have this crucial issue. When I am gaming via Wireless I get these momentary lag spikes. I can notice it greatly w/ COD4 and CS 1.6. It is random, I can't say every minute or so, but it is frequent.

How do I now it is a wireless issue? Well, when I plug it in with an ethernet (and disabling the wifi) COD4 and CS 1.6 runs smooooooth as smooooooth can be! So I was like, well, I can live with it... just plug and play.

Well, I decided to see if you guys have had any similar problems and/or solutions that I may use. I've done alot of research on the internet and this is what I have found:

    http://www.vistax64.com/vista-games/...g-problem.html

It seems that there is this joyful thing called WLAN autoconfig that seems to be the cause. Apparently, there is no fix (or at least none that I can find) and will stay with me until the end of time >.<.

I would just like to know if this is a vista 64 problem, a vista problem, or a nam3|ess problem >.< I havent tried uninstalling the wireless driver and reinstalling, I should give that a go, but was just seeking some input on what I can do. Thanks in advance

Hello, I have found a solution for this problem after spending some time in Microsoft's Knowledge Base (which is made of win, really) and their community sites.

    Quoted from here
Basicly what I did was go into the Advanced Tab on my network adapter, Disable 802.11n mode, set Wireless Mode to 802.11g and presto; no more lag spikes.

I am aware this gimps the potential of my wirless card (down to 54mbit), but frankly I don't care as I don't need anything more than that when I'm gaming or downloading as my internet connection is at 20mbit. The only thing that will suffer is internal network transfers, but again I got other methods for transferring huge amounts of data on my home network.

That's the con, and the pros are:
    • No need for VAL tool
    • No need for Netsh scripts
    • No need for Optimizer tools
    • No more headaches.

Hope this works for you, it worked like a charm for my laptop which runs Vista Home Premium 64bit and the Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN wireless card :)
