    Vista 64 Compatibility Mode HELP!

    Hi all im buying a new laptop my first and have a few software related issues
    Most of the laptops are Vista64 and some of the software i run like
    world of warcraft everquest 2 everquest neverwinter nights poser 7 carrara all say compatible with windows Vista now can i run them in compatibility mode with win vista example if i run vista64 run the compatibility mode as if it was vista 32? and the same if it says runs win xp can i run the vista64 in compatibilty mode and run the program as if it was win xp service pack 2?

    You won't need to run them in Vista X86 compatibility mode. If the games are Vista compatible, they're Vista X64 compatible. Windows Vista X64 is is hybrid OS, it has instruction sets for both X86 and X64 architectures and therefore can run both without compatibility issues.
    As for running in compatibility mode for XP SP2, yes that's possible, but not all games (games that are not Vista ready) work just by setting compatibility mode - for me the vice is Command and Conquer Red Alert 2.

    All those games will work in Vista 64 exactly the way they work in the 32 bit version.

    Yes. I have vista 64 and I haven't had any issues. It runs identical to vista 32 except if a program can take use of the 64 bit then it will.

    good because neverwinter nights 1 which i play require win xp minimum unfortunately all the good computers with good graphics are expensive and im limited immensly on money

    No reason to see why NWN1 won't work on Vista 64, it works on my Vista Basic x86 fine with no need for compatibility tweaks. My system isn't too great by today's standards yet it still runs the game maxed out.
