What should I do? I can get 64bit (along with the 32bit CD) from most vendors at $127 USD, or I can get 32bit from my college for $80 Canadian. What to do?

I read somewhere that 64bit outperforms 32bit, by quite a, bit, :D is this true? Or will 32 bit vista be sufficient for the next 3/4 years?

i only got 64 bit because i also have 4 gigs of ram on my lappy. but other then that i would not recommend 64 bit becuase the only games that can really use it is COD2 and COD4 and also Half Life 2 and all the half life 2 episodes and single player mode HL2 stuff. (none of the HL2 multiplayer mods are 64 bit compatible)

And then Crysis and stuff like that is also 64 bit..

I thught it was worth it because either way if your using Vista your going to take a performance hit. so you might as well make it the best you can with 64 bit OS.

Now if you were going to go back to XP it would be a different story completey on performance if you had less then 4 gigs of ram. But other then that.. yeah 64 bit vista is the way to go IMO

Going 64-bit is futureproofing yourself. I have two 64-bit systems and wouldn't have it any other way. And some laptops such as the M1530 are supporting 6GB+ RAM now thanks to recent BIOS updates.

64-bit, in most cases, will outperform a 32-bit system. But to get full benefit the software must be written for 64-bit. At a minimum you'll benefit from the additional RAM as already mentioned and get full use out of the processor(s).

If you only have a Vista Business as an option, get the 64bit version.

    64-bit Vista it is :)

Quick question, probably a dumb one: Could I sell the 32bit vista CD? or do they both use the same Microsoft License?

It's the same license, so no.

You could always buy the 32bit version from your college, then order your 64bit disc from Microsoft. The licenses work both ways.

Or that. This might be a good idea, especially if you know someone who has a 64bit disc. Then you could just make a copy of that and use your 32bit license. Doing this would probably save some money.
