    Vista Or XP for former Mac users.

    im a former mac user. im going to get a pc FOR THE FIRST TIME. what do u think is more user friendly to a former mac user, Vista, or XP.
    (im lookin' for simplicity here, and gaming horsepower)

    I'm going to say Vista. XP and Vista are more or less very similar in the way everythings placed, but Vista just looks nicer, and gives you a sense that things are more simple since the icons and menus are visually easier to navigate with more descriptive pictures.

    Simplicity + Gaming boost= XP
    Visuals and good looking and bugs= Vista


    Gaming enthusiasts will go for XP..if u want full performance on Vista u would need like 4GB ram to handle the aero stuff

    Our Inspiron can handle Aero perfectly well with 1GB of RAM, let alone 4. The small performance hit taken by Vista won't be noticable since as far as I can tell from his other thread he'll have an 8800. XP though will give you about a 5-10% boost in FPS.

    Also just note that when running something full screen, aero is disabled, so having aero shouldn't reduce performance.

    Ya 4gb is a bit of an overstatement; you'll be good with anything over 2gb.
