I want to get vista (ultimate or premium, whats the difference? ) but I wont unless I know that those games will work, then it is back to good old xp.

Unless of course someone can suggest other reasons to avoid it (vista).

I use Vista Ultimate, which is more expensive than Premium and gives you a few silly extra features you probably don't need. But it's cool so I got it.

Otherwise, I can attest that the Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War games all work just fine on Vista. I use Steam, but I have also installed the games off the disk and they play well with Vista.

I do not have normal Warhammer, but it is used in several benchmarks on tech sites, and I assume they test in Vista and XP, so I think it should work.

I cannot give you advice on the other two games, what does MTW2 stand for?

    Medieval 2: Total War.

I cannot comment on 32bits Vista, but MTW2 sometimes doesn't work, and the next time I re-install windows it works

Your sig says you are using Windows Server 2008, which is not meant to run games.

All of the Warhammer series work fine with my notebook, on Vista 32bit. Total War does as well (Rome, medieval 1 and 2). Can't help on battlefield though, I don't have it.

Well yeah I just haven't updated it >_>. I've switched back to Vista X64. But Server 2008 works well with games. Vista SP1 is based on Server 2008, which is a modular, security-enchanced derivation from Vista.

Yeah the disk protection softwares have difficulties on 64bits. I had to use a no-dvd for WiC because it would take 1 minute to identify it and fail half of the time.
