Been dieing to get back into America's Army. Would you rather play on XP or Vista? I am about to do a format. Not sure if I should roll back to XP or keep Vista.

XP is better for gaming, but depending on your graphics card you can still game just as well on vista.
Also vista has a performance patch released by microsoft which brings vista's gaming performance closer to xp but still not there yet.
Here is a review of gaming performance in xp VS vista before patch VS vista after patch.

Windows Vista is the future of PC gaming.

Pay attention to what blackbird said, it supports usapatriot's statement.
I'd only recommend Vista if your hardware is relatively new, I'm talking Core2Duo processor, at least 2gb of RAM, and an ATI 16XX or Nvidia 76XX or above. As long as you meet those requirements, Vista really doesn't hinder gaming much, maybe by 5% FPS these days...which isn't much. To give an example, that means that if you get 20FPS in XP, you'll get 19FPS in Vista.
Otherwise, Vista is a superior operating system to XP, and will probably become the standard when Service Pack 1 comes out. I think that with the updates released last week, this week, and the ones for next week, Vista has become stable enough to become safely mainstream. -
It appears 32-bit Vista won't be optimized for gaming until sometime next year, never mind 64-bit Vista...
XP seems the way to go for now. The only immediate benefits for 32-bit Vista are Aero and Media Center.
I agree that in a year or so 64-bit Vista and DX10b will be the future of gaming... -
Hmm hard decision. So I might as well roll back to XP until the first service pack then.
I have a Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz, 2GB Ram, and a Nvidia 7400 video card.
When is service pack 1 expected? -
I vote XP for gaming as most of the games are written for XP, and XP demands less resources to run.
-
Currently, XP is better for gaming. However, due to the growing popularity, Vista will be outstanding for it in the not to distant future.
-
is the patch included in those windows updates?
-
Wouldn't it be better to go with XP for now and upgrade to Vista 64-bit next summer?
Is there any good reason to go with Vista 32-bit right now?
Vista or XP for gaming?
