and it runs games great! I didn't buy this laptop for gaming really mostly for school but it far surpasses my expectations. I unboxed and was curious as to how it would run games so I installed some.
CnC 3 = 20+ FPS, All Ultra High 1280x800.
Crysis = 25+ FPS, All Medium 1024x768
UT 3 = 30+ FPS, Maxed Out 1280x800
Stock Clock
I am very happy even with a 1.4 Ghz CPU games run amazing.

Nice, I been wanting a laptop very badly recently, but im a Big gamer and the price point for the vostro setup you have was pritty good for a basic laptop on the go and for moderate games. I still cant decide tho :-(

the dell vostro 8600m gt is great and under 1k although its quite bulky and heavy. if i cant find a good 14.1 inch gaming laptop il go with the vostro 1500
-
It isn't as heavy as I thought and I have a 9 Cell and I'm no Athlete
-
is not heavy at all,I got a 1720 with the 8600 and is awesome,I am always on the move with it
-
That's really great to hear, as I've ordered the same spec a couple of days ago... £386 seems a real bargain for a laptop that can properly play 3D games
Are those framerates in XP or Vista? (I ordered XP, guessing it would give the CPU a bit less to do!) -
Yup ordered XP Pre Installed. No Bloatware XD.

You can get much better results.
Install laptop2go drivers, OC a little and you'll be playng Crysis ALL high (Shaders/Shadows low) with 1200x800 res. -
I didn't think that a processor would hinge gaming much.
Usually there wont be a noticeable difference unless decoding or something of that nature.
I figure the extra 300$ for stronger processors weren't worth it TOO much.
Not saying that they dont have their benefits. -
OMG are you kidding me?? 1.4 and you can run all those games that well?? why the hell did i waste so much money on a 2.2ghz then??? please tell me it is useful for something
