    In my opinion, it should be Mario vs Pac-Man, but that's just me.

    I voted Link. He's been around longer and is far more iconic.

    LOL, I noticed no one who has said they voted for Link in this thread stated they've done so multiple times, whereas some Freeman voters have. I'm guessing if everyone just voted once Link would win in a landslide...

    Just saw results for Freeman v.s. Snake, holy hell, 50 & 50.

    I think this is just a huge popularity contest. Mario is great and all but he's outdated. No one ever has a chance. I bet Master Chief would be up here had 4chan not done what they did.

    No offence but Master Chief is a fairly rubbish character with very little personality, and we dont even know what he looks like behind his armour. You could put Mario in his armour, and he'd still be Mario, take MC out of his armour and no one would know who he was lol

    Snake is at least an interesting character.

    Yep, PC gamers are REALLY trying hard to get him through.

    Edit - Freeman now has ~10,000 more votes than link. There is definitely some vote manipulation going on here. I wouldn't be surprised to see Freeman win it all if people keep up with this tomfoolery.

    Even before that Freeman was winning...garnering more votes against LINK(one of the most iconic game characters EVER) than Mario. The Steam thing just sealed the deal.

    Don't get me wrong. I see the Half Life series as one of the best series of all games. But Mario deserves to win.

    Yeah Valve! Finally we'll get something new out of this. Otherwise it would be Link, Mario and Master Chief every friggin' year (yeah, about Master Chief, I think he's just as bland as his series, it all appeals to the casual gamers wanting to be hardcore).

    I do agree that Mario is the more classic of the two. But the competition isn't to see who's more classic. To me, Gordon Freeman and what he embodies is a far better video game hero than the lovable Mario.

    man i must be the 1% of pc gamers who actually hates freeman, or for that matter, half-life itself.

    that game was like a tutorial for me, the dumb ***** kept on talking while i wanted to blast ppl's brains out. one of the reason i didnt buy orange box for 30bucks and instead got TF2 for 20bucks. and to my surpise when i went to check out tf2 at the best buy counter, it was at 50% so 10bucks for that game. good thing i chose tf2 by itself over orange box.

    besides, i love mario, he has been featured in like what? 100 games already...i

    Coverage or age doesn't make Mario a better character. One may say he's sold more games, but I say he's been prostituted out to almost every possible genre.

    It seems they think Mario should've won because he was wh0red out to every age group for twenty plus years and has been in nearly every genre possible.
