used to have 2700m on my W700ds but I replaced it with 3700m and the performance upgrade so far been awesome. I have no problem playing Alice:Madness now.

But I noticed it's running pretty hot. I never had a performance issue or system instability, however. it's been rock-stable.

So I ran MSI Kombuster tool and at 80% load(it wouldn't go 100% for some reason), the temp would shoot up to 90 degrees rapidly.

I let it run for about 6 hours and the temp stays at 96 degrees, (same for the MAX temp as well.) So I assume that when I play Alice:Madness for a few hours, that's the temp of the GPU.

is it a bit too high? or is it within the normal operating range? Again, I never had a performance or instability issue so I'm not too worried but just checking to see if I should take proactive measure to lower the temp...

    thanks!

Yes, 96 C is bad, anything above 90 C for GPU is bad and should be taken care of. Consider doing a repaste job with quality thermal paste for the GPU and see if it helps.

My Old Laptop Ran At Close To 100c For Years Without Any Problems. But YEs 96 IS ToO High. Invest In A Laptop Cooler. Preferably The Sf-19 By Cooler Master.

i don't know what the temp was when i had 2700m. i wish i measured it before i performed the upgrade. but when i'm not playing 3D games, the temp of the 3700m stays around 55~60. and the fan 's quiet as it hardly spins...

i used arctic silver 5 i got for about 10 dollars from amazon. i thought its supposed to be a decent thermal paste. was i wrong? could you guys recommend a better choice?

AS5 is a reliable thermal grease, I tried looking around to see what temps are for this laptop, but no luck. Right now I can only assume 1 the temps are normal for this laptop, which seems hard to believe because its a lenovo laptop. 2 you didn't apply thermal grease properly. 3 this model graphics card is known for failure rates and you got a bad graphics card.
