So I think I am going to get WAR, I have to talk to my wife first and ask if she will miss me lol, as I get addicted to these kinds of games sometimes but since there are no 6 hour long raid dungeon crawls that I know of I should be able to play casually.
So I guess just want to see who preordered from where and why.
Im thinking direct2drive just so I can download it without having to go drive to pick up the game, also no waiting for shipping and no way to lose my game. But have not really gone into detail to see if there is any price differences. The pre-order bonus's seem about the same. The item is the same for everybody just a different element, the cards are no big deal. The beta code is kind of important I would like to get into the closed beta but I think its only a request not a guarantee.

Just wondering, what are the perks for those who pre-order?
-
I actually got my pre order kit from Target. Their kit is only .99 and it comes w/ a $5 coupon.
-
You get "Rittenbach's Portable Camp" and a Vindicator's _____ Band. Target's is a ruby band which cast's "Touch of Flame" only in PVE combat however. >.<

Open Beta Key, Early Start for the actual game, the items listed above, some game cards.
Not every place is the same, Target for example I think does not give you the beta key, thus why they give the $5 cupon to make up for it. That or it doesn't guarentee the game. Something like that as the details are on the official WAR page.
Direct2Drive is only $49 and thats what I think I will go with but I need to find the details on how long the hold your digital download for you. I dont want it to be like BF2142 where they said it was forever and later EA said nope only 2 years then you have to pay to download it agian. -
You forgot access to the Preview Weekend event which started today (approximately at 9:00AM EST) and will conclude sometime this Sunday.

Preview weekend isn't a guarantee.
Besides those who are already in beta, invites were sent out to a defined number of pre-orders... and since it's already started chances are it's too late to get a spot. -
I pre-ordered it from D2D since the EB I went to ran out of the pre-order boxes (yet they still tried to get me to pre order it without all the bonus stuff... pfft). Isn't the final version going to be patched onto the current beta file, or is it going to be a whole new download? I remember hearing it'll be a patch or something similar, but I'm not 100% sure... anyway if it is, then might as well get it off D2D since you'll be downloading for the open beta anyway. (unless of course you want the UFS battle deck)
As for closed beta, I believe it's over and open beta starts sept 7th, and is 100% guaranteed for pre-order customers. As for prices, the only place I saw that wasn't $50 was from the EA store... they had it for $80 O_O
As for preview weekend, you're going to miss a chunk of it if you even get it. I believe collectors edition pre order customers are in 100%, but only 50,000 people with normal orders were allowed. I'm really liking the game btw! -
I disagree. If someone is already planning to play WAR when it goes live in September, it wouldn't hurt to pick up the pre-order in order to take advantage of the extra goodies that comes with it. This includes the Preview Weekend, which, to my knowledge, people are still able to log into having purchased a copy of the pre-order as recently as today and registered/downloaded/installed the game.

**** double posts...

Target does offer the open beta. Sorry it was late and there were no lights on so I was trying to read by the light of my computer screen! lol How does the open beta work anyway? I'm new to this type of thing. The char you make, is that just for beta only then you make a new one for actual game or what?

Yeah beta chars get wiped for the actual game when it starts. However "early start" sounds like you get to start the actual game a few days early and make your permanent char.

I just ordered from Amazon because it was easy and I already have the client downloaded anyway.

Cool beans! Thanks for the info.
I'm signing up now so I can start the download before I have to go to work.
WAR: Who are you pre-ordering from?
