is their any other way to install drivers beside using the "have disk" method. to be honest every driver that i've downloaded (178.13,180.43,180.73) they've all had no performance increase at all ZERO!!! i even checked riva tuner and it says that my drivers are updated to whatever i've installed but i still go hardly any performance increase. soo i was wondering is their another method of installing drivers that works.

Have disk method? I've never had to install a driver that way, I just use the modded inf and included setup.exe.

    Nvidia

Uninstall old drivers via add/remove software
    Reboot
    Run drivercleaner
    Reboot
    Install new drivers

    ATI
Run new driver install package and select uninstall drivers as the install option
    Reboot
    Install the new drivers.

For some reason manually removing the ATI drivers causes issues, same with driver cleaner.

Should you reboot before you install the drivers?

I always run DCleaner first just to make me feel like it does something :D. Otherwise it only makes 1 registry change haha.

what kind of performance increases should we expect to see?

In the past, I tried to update my drivers, but it wouldn't go past 101.something because I kept getting a **** error and at those drivers, i'm getting the same performance from the stock drivers my laptop got restored with (motherboard replacement, factory reset).
