Well my wow account was breached recently. I have 7 80's and 20k gold(and many more high level toons), that I'm afraid are going to be stripped bare.. . What are you experiences with Wow accounts being hacked?

Hacker put a authenticator on my account, which I'm in process getting removed...

GM can get ALL your stuff back, just write a ticket.

But honestly, this is your fault too for not surfing the net carefully+not buying your own authenticator...at least personally I payed that $6.50, better than waiting weeks to get my acc back.

If you're quick about it, Blizzard may be able to restore some of it. If you're a jerk to them, they'll be a jerk to you and leave you with just the acct.

ive been compromised a couple of times, and seen it happen alot to idiots i know. you will get all your stuff back and sometimes more. You wont lose your toons either. May take a couple weeks or a day. Depends on how busy they are.

I had my account compromised a few years ago. Easiest thing is put in a ticket AND call. Don't email, way too slow response

My accounts got hacked and the hacker bought me the expansion and farmed me a TON of ore. He also paid for 3 months of game time and left his CC on there with recurring payments. I <3 my hacker.

Never played Retail WoW  ...[yeah I know], but I would be damn pissed if I worked my off to get several lvl 80s only to lose it all in one day (less than). Although as others have posted...call/make a ticket - I've read it on Blizzard forums and have played PS-WoW.

LOL I had a similar experience. No expansion but I got a month's playtime (although Blizz found out I played the majority of the time and the CC had a chargeback so I had to pay $15). But I got a ton of mined crap I sold for bunch of gold.. but I got all my stuff back no problem. I didn't mind paying the $15 later since I wasn't playing at the time and it was really fun to play while I had it.. currently not subbed.

I had my account hacked once, and I simply called blizzard and they solved it immediately.

Remember that when the "hacker" pays for something on your account its not actually his money... Its most likely a stolen credit card. So in fact keeping that stuff or using it is in fact stealing from some other soul.

yeah no big, like I said I didn't mind paying that $15 I owed. I even stayed on hold for an hour 15min to make that payment even though I'm not playing the game, been away from it for 3-4 months.

That's awkwards... does Blizzard slack in protection that many accounts get hacked?

My guess is the ..err "PBCAK security flaw" would explain most of these hackings, if you know what I mean : )

Exactly. Mine was 100% my own fault; tried account trading.

Yea its not really a blizzards fault, other then being the biggest game out there. Various things like gold buyers and trojans that get most people. There isnt many if any legit "hacking" done.

Stealing a good WoW account takes only a few seconds and can be dumped for several hundred dollars in cash. There is a HUGE market for WoW accounts and gold and hackers are there to satisfy that demand. Blizzard is doing more than their fair share of protection by offering an authenticator, something no other gaming account offers.
