Not very many games will be able to use this resolution without extreme lag. I do know that GuildWars will play fantastically at this resolution, as well as Wow (I think)!

Well, this question depends on a lot of factors.

Number one is the GPU. Not many graphics cards will be able to play at that resolution, and when you are talking about the latest games such as FEAR, not even the high-end chips are going to do that great.

Games that support widescreen are also not that common. They are becoming moreso, but still not a lot of games support it. Some games can be hacked to do so.

The MSI-1036's X700 isn't going to be able to play pretty much anything but previous-generation games at WSXGA+.

WUXGA has really small text, keep that in mind. Screen resolution is personal preference; if you haven't seen a WUXGA in person, I wouldn't opt for it. It may be too small for you.

    ChazMan421 ,
I see you have an X700. What resolutions do you generally run for different games?

Well, my current desktop has a Geforce fx 5600 v2. I'm just curious how the performance will compare to it. I like to run high resolutions and high detail when it doesn't impart performance too much.

The 256MB X700 in the MSI-1036 will blow away your desktop's FX5600 by a long shot. Considering that the FX5600 compares to a Radeon 9600, which can get about ~1000-1300 in 3DMark05, the 256MB X700 Mobility gets about 2700-2800 at default. :)

Of course, you can't use benchmarks to directly compare to actual performance, but at least that will give you an idea of how much better the X700 is.
