So, it's been about 4 years since I built my last computer and since then things have changed a lot.
Not to mention laptops and desktops are a different animal alltogether.
I want to know is there a place I can go to learn start to finish what all of the parts mean/do on a laptop. I read some of these video card threads and I just don't understand what the hell you guys are talking about. Nothing seems as cut and dry as it used to.
So I'm looking for a quick refresher that will give me a good start to finish understanding of laptop parts so I can make more educated decisions.
So far I've not found anything spectacular like that on the web, and the things I do find are either too basic or too advanced. I pick up on things here and there from this forum, but some of it just baffles me.

mattireland It used to be the iLand..
I recomend getting a book if you can. The books with pictures are always the best - not one of these pure text ones. Books are generally more versatile and easier to read than stuff you can find on the net. 99 in 100 times you can always guarantee the accuracy of a book whereas you cannot guarantee that anything you find on the internet is accurate (except this post).

I guess the issue is books I find seem too baisc about the topics I need help with.
For example, in the 8800 m thread I understand the majority of it...
But things like this... Computex 2007 Meet NB8E, new G80 chip in 22W+ envelope
220w+ envelope? Meet NB8E?
Cripes, how do learn all this from a book ya know? -
NB8E is just the codename of the chip for the 8800M I think. But I don't think this information is vital to build a laptop?

Right, I just want to be hip and know all the lingo.

So if anyone wants to recommend a book to him or anything go for it because I surely can't find one! -
I'd say just keep posting here. Its cheaper than a book, and you never know what you'll find out from our "experts" in the field. Just keep reading, and don't be afraid to Google terms (or ask us) to find out what it means.
Of course, this is coming from the cheap college kid...
