    Hey guys!
I recently bought a new laptop a HP 530 Series Laptop. I want to be able to play Counterstrike source online, but i get unplayable framerates. are there any settings or ways that i can try and improve the performance of my laptop? as it is really new and CSS is really old, so it should be able to play it. Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks alot

Intel's GMA 950 is not designed to play any 3D games. There isn't much you can do other than check that you're running the latest drivers and turn down the effects a bit.

Well first off, do you have all of the settings in game to the lowest possible? ie lowest textures, shadows, etc? Also make sure any other programs that you don't need aren't running in the background.

Also, CSS while it may seem old isn't as old as you think. It came out in 2003 and was pretty decently cutting edge at the time.

That being said, I think the main thing that would be holding you back would be your GPU. Nowadays most people have laptops with enough RAM, HDD, and CPU, but without a GPU to back them up it becomes the bottleneck.

So unless you wish to overclock your GPU (which I don't recommend btw) the only way I see you getting better performance is by getting an external GPU.

    Hope this helps!

yeah, setting it to even DX8 could help. my friend with integrated graphics played the hl2 series with forced dx8 and all settings low at the lowest possible resolution. it's possible, but it doesn't look pretty.

Ok I play it on x3100 with dxlevel 70 and I get on dust 50-60fps all the time! The other maps play better or equal. To put it simple, I never go below 40fps.

dxlevel 71 has better graphics than 70 at barely any performance hit, I used to force that in HL2DM and CSS when I had a Radeon X300.
