So I did the Playonline download for FFXI on my Vista computer, Its a laptop that I got from dell, Im not very computer savvy so I don't really want to mess with it without any kind of help, Thats why I am here. Vista just plain sucks at running most of my old school games and even some new ones. FFXI cant run past 6FPS with settings on LOW! with vista the computer that has vista is

    Dell inspiron 1520
    2Gigs of ram
    2.0 Intel duo core processor
    Windows vista home permium
    8600 Nvidia Geforce 256 GT

And it CANT RUN FFXI on even medium graphics without lagging me to death and back.
My desktop with only 1.8 Pentium 4 processor
    256 ATI Radion X300
    1GiG of ram
Windows XP (pirated version) Can run FFXI like a Charm on close to max with less lag than my new laptop.

So I want to know is there a guide to downgrade form Vista to XP ?

Does it cost money if we dont have the XP version yet? Or does dell/Microsoft provide this option for free?

I want to use Real software on my laptop not pirated stuff so Is there a place if I need to buy XP that I can get it for under 100 dollars?

Please help I have tried everything to get FFXI to work on Vista properly its just not happening.

We do not support software piracy here so it's not a good idea to tell us that you are doing such things.

If you are a student try your campus store, it should be half price. If not then use pricegrabber.com and google.com/products to find the lowest prices.

Is it hard to downgrade the system from what I herd from different tech's I asked today they said new graphic cards like the one I have and new hardware for computers is specifically made to run on Vista and the Drivers for XP are not out because they are not made.

I have managed to blag a copy of XP sp2 from Dell after complaining about my XPS M1710 not being able to play alot of the new games out there due to Vista.

He said just wipe the slate clean and start over, download drivers etc and your away.
