War Rock open beta

Anyone playing? Got it today (the open beta), fantastic game. War Rock is always guaranteed to be free, they are releasing a commerical version but that will only offer some exclusive features to buyers, the core game will still be free!

Its alot like BF2 except - its free! Its also really hardware friendly - I can run it maxed out easily on my Turbocache 6400, so all of you with poor or basic cards that can't run BF2 or any other new online FPS games very well might have a good alternative in War Rock!

The graphics aren't quite as good as BF2 but are still great, its much more hardware friendly, it loads wayyyyy faster, and is just as much fun on a good server!

It recommended specs are 1.8Ghz, 512mb Ram, 128mb Nvidia FX/Ati Radeon 9000 series, which are old cards - and barely make the minimum requirements for Battlefield 2. Crap computer/laptop owners, rejoice!

I've heard from quite a few people that there are nothing but terrible servers with tons of lag, which ruins the gameplay.

 

that used to be true in older versions when it used to put you into a random server regardless of where in the world you lived, leading to horrible lag unless you were lucky and got a local server, but in this open beta it seems to be much improved, i logged on today and it gave me the option of several european servers only...I live in Ireland so it meant all the games I played were completely lag free.

 

can you do a search for me and see how many US servers are running at decent ping?

 

i cant, it keeps giving me euro servers only so far, which is great for me but it means I cant check anything else....you might as well install the game, it only takes about 20 minutes to download on a 2mb line!

 

I've got it a week ago. Pretty good. If anyone's wondering, my online name is toobig. I play on the US east ccaost server.

hrmm, no 1280X800 widescreen support. The game is pretty cheesy, nothing compared to battlefield 2, but i can't complain when it is free.

 

All you have to do is edit the configuration ini file, I'm playing it 1280x800 no problems.

 

still waiting on that confirmation email. Did everybody else find it took them a while to email back?

You guys should have gotten your emails instantly, i did. Log in and there is an option to re-send it, make sure you look in your spam folder as it may have dropped it in there.

 

I didn't see anywhere in the config file to set a resolution, how do i do it?

 

I think he's talking about the "Engine" ini file in the System folder

 

This game is good, i never played BF2 online before
I am using a ATI R9600pro and it run at low setting at 1024 resolution at good speed. But it kinda lag for me for I lived in Asia, i play at US server

Im still waitin for my email- its been about 4 hours I guess. But I have installed the game so all I need to do is wait for the email. I tried resubmitting it too!

just got it- ummmmmm- its ok I guess. Pretty much the same as battlefield 2 minus the graphics. I found I was dying a whole lot. It is free tho so can't complain all that much. It would be pretty fun to play against a bunch of people you knew just so you could rub it in their faces that you killed them a zillion times.

This looks interesting, its not like BF2 graphics are amazing. The game is quite poorly coded

 

why don't i recieve a confirmation e-mail...i got a password reminder right away but no confirmation e-mail...any help? couldn't find a e-mail to ask for help on there site either
