I recall seeing a few questions about gaming performance on a MacBook. I wanted to report that I can play WarCraft III on an external display running 1680x1050 and maximum graphic settings with perfect performance.

Anyways back on topic, so what fps do you get when playing wacraft 3 then? I assume like 50+? You can check this by typing "/fps" i think.

Big Whoop (lol, Monkey Island). War 3 runs on anything. I've played it on well on a Intel Extreme graphics (and riva tnt2 m64). Still an awesome game though.

I would hope that such an old game would run any new machine.
Warcraft III is a great game but I only play it for short periods of time (I play it for a month and then stop for a few months).

WC3 is a DX6 generation game which does not use HW T&L, and in DX6 most things were done by the CPU to begin with so the GMA 950 is really at no disadvantage. Still 1680x1050 is pretty nice.

Warcraft III doesn't run in widescreen. You're running it at 1400x1050 at best.

OS X version is different. It allows a higher resolution and widescreen.

Well, it's great to see OS X having a gaming advantage for once.

no war3 doesnt have support for widescreen.....even in OS X

you can change registry keys to put whatever resolution you want (including widescreen res) BUT war3 has a fixed FOV (field of view) so even if you put a widescreen res the FOV looks weird (cuz remains 4:3).... not playable IMO so its better to play it in 4:3 res with no scaling option and black bars at the sides.

The FOV depends on war3 and not the OS

War3 is the 1st game I installed in my vostro (1440x900) and DotA of course =D

I thought it weird when I tried it. The FOV might be the same, but you can change it to a widescreen resolution in the game.
