My specs are in my signature but why Warcraft 3 not letting me run it in 1400X900 resolution? The only thing that comes up is the 1024X768 or whatever it is.
Was the game not made for 1400X900?
Thank you

Na its an older game, also it wont support any widescreen resolutions due to the type of game it is, using widescreen would give you an unfair advantage over anybody with a standard screen in a competitive environment.
I doubt even the yet to be released Starcraft 2 will support widescreen just for that reason, lets hope it will tho since its basically standard now.
The one thing you can do to make sure you have every option available to you tho is update the game to the newest version and update your video card drivers to the newest version. -

How did you get WC3 to work on Vista? I got the error message that it only works on "32-bit OS".

Your NOT playing widescreen your playing standard stretched to fit your entire screen, wich is absolutly the worst way to play a game ever. Real widescreen will not distort the screen but rather extend the FOV to compensate (thus giving an advantage) and it wont warp the HUD like yours is.
Edit:
As a mater of fact just to prove it further in case you wont take my word for it, I am a wiki admin at widescreengamingforum.com (the worlds best experts on widescreen monitors and games and hacking them to work) and as you can see here
http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/index.php/Master_Games_List_-_W
WCIII is not widescreen compatible, you have to hack the registry to force it to fit the screen and it just stretches it. On our scale that a failed game and does not count as widescreen.
If you didnt do the registry hack to force the widescreen that means your video card drivers are not set for aspect scaling and its stretching it to fit the screen, and thats a lower quality stretch than forcing the game because now your stretching pixels manually rather than generating them. If thats not the case that means your monitor has internal scaling and its stretching it, and thats the worst case out of all 3 because hardware scaling is never as good as software level scaling.
If you cant have a native non stretched game you want black bars on the sides to retain the game original state and highest quality visual. The only time I would even consider dealing with a stretch game is that there are several games out there that we have hacked to work with widescreen that increase the in-game FOV but the HUD stretches. If thats the case Ill take the full FOV and deal with the stretched HUD. -

Vista has both a 32bit and 64bit OS, my guess is that if your getting that error your using 64bit Vista.
Also if you would like to play with a stretched screen rather than have the black bars on the side here is how you do it:

oops I didnt know you posted it yet -
No you don't. -
There is not widescreen support, however, there is a registry you can do to make everything widescreen EXCEPT the field of view.
Go to Regedit>>Local Machine>>SOFTWARE>>Blizzard Entertainment>>Warcraft III>Video. You should see a resheight and a reswidth. The height should be 500 and the width should be 400 for ratio 5:4. Change the height to 900 and width to 1600 for 16:9 or 1000 to 1600 if you have 16:10. You should see some significant changes. -
do what this guy says, regedit........video....reshight then change to decimal not hexadecimal, then type 900 for HIGHT and 1440 for WIDTH, just make sure its decimal...that should do it
for 1440x900 -
Yeah I already did this and it works out great
Fun game by the way I never thought I would like it. -
Uhm nope sry widescreen is not possible in W3
sure u can put any rez u want but the thing is that W3 has a fixed field of view (FOV) of 4:3 so even if u put a widescreen rez the FOV remains non widescreen and the image gets streched.
U can try to open any map in normal rez, take SS, open the same map in widescreen rez and compare SSs, u wont see any further, just the image gets streched.
IMHO is better to play it in normal rez (no streching)
BTW u should try W3 custom map DotA -
Play DOTA and tower defense maps, they are fun specially when playing with friends

Dota is fun, I liked the final fantasy tactics version of it. Last time I played WCIII tho alot of my fav maps are no longer hosted.
I used to like the Final Fantasy Tactics map (2 of them, one a good rpg, one a dota)
There was another realllly good Dota clone that I forget the name of wanna say land of legends?
I liked excape from the pyramid
samurai vs ninja
tower wars is cool too some versions
WCIII is like 1000 games in one, and still going strong to this day, we can only hope that SC2 will be the same way.
Warcraft Three (3)-Where is 1400X900 resolution for it? 8600M GT
