Im so angry. So today i go and buy DoW 2,im ready to install and play, when I go to find the cd key on the back of the manual.....its not there! I didnt know what to think! So I filed an inquiry with THQ, and if they dont supply me with a new key, im going to be royally pissed.

take it back to the store?
-
the store should be able to do something if you show them that your cd key is not on the back of your manual.

haha thats funny. No cd key.So there will be no difference in the pirated copy and ur paid original copy. I think the store will replace it.
-
Take it back as soon as possible with your receipt, and be nice to the salesperson. Coming from a job in retail, attitude can be the difference between a smooth transaction and making you jump through hoops.

I actually called THQ about the cd key and they said not to take it back, but im about to go try anyway.
-
Goes to show that most technical advice given by developers rarely has the customers interests at heart.
Why is this still an issue anyway? Take it back. What the hey, open the replacement in store to check everything is there and go home and enjoy your new game. -

The first time I attempted to take it back, they said call THQ, so I went to a new gamestop and they had to open 4 games to find one with a key!
-
My copy of Dawn of War II never asked for the CD key and I play online and everything, weird.
-
fishy things going on at thq me thinks O.O

I've always found if I'm nice, I get walked all over. If I go in with a stern attitude and know w t f I'm talking about, I get a response. Being nice has never paid off. Plus customer service reps are usually pricks anyhow...
I had that happen. Bought the game at Gamestop (never will go there EVER again BTW). No CD-key. I take it back probably less than two hours later and they say they can't accept it. That it's a sticker and I could have removed it. And yes, I was nice when I approached them.
And nice mcdgexxx - I don't think that would happen. What about billing? Drugs just go unnoticed wherever it is that you work? Nice. I think I'll bow out. -

Don't get me started on Gametop (or EB). Besides the incidence of no CD-key and not returning it. I bought a game for NEW price. I got it home, and realized the shrink wrap was clearly sliced open, the disc had some smudges on it. Apparently, someone had opened it and played it. I took it back and they wouldn't exchange it. Nice.

Lol thats why i AVOID buying from Gamestop i only buy a game from a gamestop if i can only find that title at the store(maybe an older game).
I prefer buying from target(who usually has really good deals in store) or amazon. -
I end up buying from Steam or Best Buy usually. I have a Reward Zone membership, and they actually have decent rewards to cash in on, especially for games.
I haven't shopped in a Gamestop or EB explicitely for a few years, except when wife and I happen to be at the mall and I have nothing better to do. However, I do find some older classics in their bargain bin from time to time, that are well worth the $3 to $5! -

I'm a flyer for the air force, and mine was self inflicted... back before we had the computerized shot records, I actually lost my immunization history...
Got to get every shot again, which (as I'm sure you know!) is quite a few shots for worldwide deployable folks...
Oh, the best part? The day after getting back up to date, I found my old shot records on top of the fridge. Still no idea why I elected to put them there - it was before I was married, or else I'd suspect my wife set me up...
Was a good lesson, anyway, in why you shouldnever lose paperwork! -

@Htwingnut: I really like Rewards Zone too. I got Civilization IV and all its expansions solely from the credit I had on Rewards Zone. -
Lol yah, there is a ton of shots. I like 99% of the Marines in my squadron though for the most part so I wouldn't do that to any of them.

I'm just surprised the military doesn't keep better records of it. Wouldn't want those pilots or drivers doping it up before a flight or heading out in a tank. -

So, on the subject of DoW 2, has anyone here tried it out beyond the beta? I spent about three days downloading the beta version, and played it for about five minutes, because 1) My laptop would barely run it, and 2) It was a completely different game, but I wanted to check out Tyranids. Anyone have a recommendation to buy/not buy DoW2? -

So, to answer your ?uestion, yes, I highly recommended DoW to anyone who's a fan of Company of Heroes' front-line style of RTS action and can look beyond the absence of base building. -

I own DoW but because of Steam not working right now I can't play it or Empire Total War
-
i'm about ten missions into the campaign and it's great fun though a bit too difficult for my personal taste, at normal difficulty (sergeant) i usually get 2 to 3 stars ratings. so the achivements are kinda hard to get.

Hmmm... I was non-plussed when I first heard about it, but traditionally I enjoy more tactical-style and less RTS base building excercises... maybe I should give this a look...

I found it fun at first, but pretty repetitive. I tend to use the same 4 characters after I got the reborn robot guy. The jump pack guy dies way to easily. The sniper guy is okay, but usually I just use the brute force shooting guys. I'm sure when you do involve a little strategy, it gets a bit more exciting. (maybe split guys up in the entire map instead of moving in a pack of 4)
Overall, almost every single map is exactly the same > start from bottom, rush to top, defeat boss.
I haven't tried to play online yet though... -

I thought the multiplayer beta was fun, but got WAY to repetitive to justify buying the game. Coop mode looks fun, but not for the price unfortunately.
-
Dow 2 is currently just an above average game and only because of how fun the multiplayer is. The single player is very repetitive and quickly becomes boring. Playing online is a blast but the balance in the game is currently iffy to say the least.
