Anyone here played warhammer on a laptop yet? What card do you have/how does it run? It says on the system requirements that laptop versions of the cards may run much slower.
How would a card in a ~1000$-1300$ laptop do? Something like a GeForce 9600 I think.
Thanks

I'm playing, with the laptop listed in my spec. The game runs great. I have no complaints.
-
I'm playing on an Asus with the 9500M GS card.
It runs very smooth and looks great.
Only once was there a slight amount of sluggishness, and that was during open world PvP when both sides had many people as well as a lot of NPCs.
I'll be un-borrowing this laptop and getting one with the 9600M GT soon as well. Looking forward to the step up in power. The MSI-1651 looks like a great system, especially since its 9600 has DDR3. -
I played the beta maxed on my 8600m GT 256mb DDR2.
Noticed no performance related slowdowns or anything, even in large scale PvP, did not try Anti-Aliasing. -

Ran fine about 40fps maxed out 1680x1050 on my G50V-A1 with the 9700GT

Im sure being a better graphics version of WoW that it would run well on 8 series and up.

Even tho the graphics are "better" WoW to me still looked much better.
This game just seems so dull and bland and flat.
Id rather look at a lower res blocky painting than to look at a high res back side of a frying pan... thats how WAR vs WoW feels to me.
I even forced AA & AF to the max and all it did was polish the frying pan -
Vaio FE790 with 7600 go runs fine...
-
Vicious, did you play the beta? Or are you talking about bland graphics on the release now? The game looks great in my opinion, I'm glad I waited for it to come out.
-
If you want to make your own judgment on how it looks, they have plenty of screenshots on the official site: here
The most recent ones are from the August build though. -
I played the open beta with everything turned on high at 1400*900 res. Frames where 30-40 some small stutters when entering an area with a lot of players but went away after being in the area for a few secs. I have the ddr2 8600m gt running on stock clock speed.

I have seen about half the games areas and its just mostly vast open land with a few objects plopped down. Reminds me of when I made maps for jedi knight, the begining stages of creationg before I went and added all the details.
I guess it could be argued that its just a diffrent style of game and its supposed to be "dark" "barren" "desolate" what ever but to me it just seems like lack of detail.
I even noticed major flaws like the textures on the sides of the mountains did not match up, it was like tearing a poster in half and then taping it back together with it offset by 3 inches. -
I'm runin on 8800GTS with everything maxed out and iit runs fine, once in a while it will lag a little, don't know how to check fps

How can you possibly fathom that this game looks like WoW or is dull and bland? Please for your own sake just take a trip to your faction's main city or go into tier 4. You will be amazed at the amount of effort and time put into the detail of the architecture, the fortresses, the armor, ect.... Just look at Praag (Tier 4). Its a massive zone of a burning city that we get to fight in. People in beta know that RvR in the tier 4 zones are expected to hit numbers like 500 on 500 people or even more. The end game of this game is meant to make you feel like you are just a foot soldier in the large scale battle between the factions, like the table top game. This game is Warhammer and its not like anything else. Of course there are similarities to WoW, but they are simply the generic parts about an MMO. I completely disagree with you Vicious... no offense

I have defintily seen all the game has to offer. You can disagree with me and thats totally fine. Everybody has different taste.
On paper the graphics are better than WoW but in design its not is what i am trying to say.
I can literally log onto WoW and just take a stroll thru some areas I have not been to in awhile, like ashenvale and take in the scenery as it just captures you and its immersive. WAR however just does not have that effect on me, not even close. -
T2 is not T4
*Added* If you liked Ashenvale I guess you can go to T3 Dark Elf. Its a massive forest full of elves lulz. -
Anyone care to wager whether or not it will run on an X1300?
-
anybody else here playing it on and HDX with the nvidia 8800M? Doesn't seem to be as smooth on mine as I thought it would be given the hardware of this laptop.
HDX 2.1 Penryn
4 Gigs of RAM
Nvidia 8800M 512mb
Vista x64
Any ideas? -

well, Ive seen early access...
I am going to actually play this weekend on a friend's account, so I will hold off on gameplay until then. (not the same watching as playing)
The release graphics are quite literally barely better than WoW.
The armor and weapons are less fruity, and the animations hit me as less "kiddie" and with more of a twisted sense of humor (especially greenskins)
I never liked WoW's atmosphere when it came to disco-armor and hello-kitty palette choices, so that is honestly a leg up for me.
I was definitely NOT impressed graphically by either the models or the atmosphere. This is not to say they are horrible or unbearable, but Lineage2 has better graphics by FAR and it is 4+ years old! The graphics are "functional" and little more can be said about them.
I am quite honestly hoping the gameplay is better than the graphics. -
Sorry bub, but WoW graphics are 5 years old. The game looks like a gigantic pile of crap. I can maybe see visting these places out of nostalgia. But come on, you're making it sound like the graphics in WoW are so breathtaking you just have to go back. I smell BS, and I'm sure everyone else on these boards do to.
I will give blizzard credit in that they've done very well with the limited engine they have, but please.
WoW graphics are on par with warcraft 3 graphics, which was released in 2002. 6 years old.
Now I'm not going to go and say WAR graphics are by any means revolutionary, but I do believe they're as good as they can possibly be and still maintain respectable fps in large scale rvr.
AoC had the best grahpics any mmo to date has ever had, and people with high end pc's were struggling to run that game at high settings. You just can't have cutting edge graphics in MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER games.
There's gotta be a tradeoff between performance and quality.
edit: not to get off topic here, as it seems this thread has.
I'm running 8800M GTX Sli @ 1920x1200res at full settings and getting 60+ fps, 40+ in large scale rvr
My wife is running the 8600M GT @ 1440x900res at medium settings and getting 30+ fps, she has stuttering issues, beteween 10-15 fps in large scale rvr. You will definetly need to tweak/lower your settings for large scale rvr with this card.
These fps values were in a keep raid we did during the first preview weekend. Roughly 100 particapants in closed quarters. Not sure if Mythic has done any rvr optimization since then. -
I agree, the graphics aren't meant to be Crysis level amazing, nor can they be - an MMO likt this has to run on many different machine specs. That said, I've only played a few hours (got the game yesterday) and the graphics are superior to WoW. Just the first enemy village in the Chaos starting areas is far superior to places like Darkshire, let alone Goldshire or Brill (the Human and Undead starting areas in WoW respectively).
In 1920x1080 the game is playable too, but does have a little slowdown with groups of people if you try and max everythin out. -
I want to know how it runs on an X4500.
-
I think the graphics are very nice. I've played wow, eq, eq2, vanguard. You have to remember, yes, I'm sure they could have done better BUT would that have affected a 300-300 person battle? I"m sure. I'm really enjoying this game so far.
-
The important thing will be the gameplay, balance, and fun-factor.
The graphics are low-end in comparison to even 4-yr-old MMOs, but they aren't horrid.
If that's its only downside, WAR will be fine. -
Anyone running on an 8400m gs?
