During the last 5 months, I've often wondered why the colours often looked so washed out on games on my G1S compared to my Desktop.
Determined to get to the bottom of it this evening, I realised it had been there all the time. - Digital Vibrance !
I've found COD4 looks particularly good with it at 35 percent. What's the general opinion ? - Why was it's default value 0 ? (maybe it wasn't, but I previously changed it advertantly!) does it's use significanlty decrease the lifespan of the panel ? (or my eyes for that matter !)
Thanks.

I set mine to 9, anything higher and flesh colors are too red.

Bumped mine up to 11, and couldn't really see the difference on desktop. I'll try out a game when I get a chance.

im at 100% and am loving it, world of change

I bought an EYEPRO and calibrated my screen. You don't need digital vibrance when your monitor is calibrated properly (unless you like super-saturated color).
Just so you know, laptop LCD screens are flaming crap compared to most desktop LCDs. This is generally because laptop LCDs use 6 bit color while desktop LCDs use 8 bit color. So laptop LCDs can only make use of a FRACTION of colors used in desktop LCDs. -
i have set mine to 75% as i was recommended and it is great.the only thing weird is when the setting resets every now and then, it looks all washed out.

Holy crap @ 75% and 100%. Yeah things look "brighter" and more vibrant, but it looks bad. We're naturally drawn to flashy colors so I can understand wanting some vibrancy, but dang. It's like the difference between Shure and Sony earbuds (Quality tiers aside). Sony's are boomy and bright which some people like, while Shure's are known for their neutral, flat spectrum. One is accurately reproducing the audio, the other is not, but some people prefer poorly reproduced audio because it's thumpy and bright.
To each his own. -
Man, I just tried setting this to 75% and I think my eyeballs exploded. I'll leave it at 0% for my safety.
-
I cranked it up to 50%, and I kinda dig it.

i also just settled on 33%... which i will just call 35.
i think you hit it on the money, but it depends on the screen, really. -

i'd like to be able to just calibrate the monitor properly like in osx... but cranking up the digital vibrance to 33 is good enough for games i guess. don't do any photo editing with digital vibrance.
figure out how to calibrate your monitor in windows, actually. that would be the best. -
glad to see the DV is catching on!
-
I love it at 100 and you'll never convince me to turn it down
-
i think a lot of the people with a gateway fx set it to 75% as one user recommended and i think it looks amazing.skin color is fine and every color looks good.
-
yeah, i think that user was me...lol
and i have back off that down to like 65. them super bright colors we're making my eyes hurt...lol -
Well, I did get the LG/Philips display in my Vostro 1500 so maybe I'm just spoiled by having a good panel.
-
feels like you got another high def screen in the house....lol
-
Can't live without it. I've set it at 38.

I have everything set to 30s (Contrast, Brightness, DV, etc) and everything seems ok. I think the monitors on my 6860 are pretty good, but really touchy about viewing angle. I will find that I will be sitting playing a game for a good hour or two, just gawking the whole time at the majesty that is my 6860.
Then, I will get up and go get something to drink, come back, and not be sitting at the right angle, and have to tap my screen back or forward slightly, and everything snaps back into focus. It's pretty drastic. My HP behaved similarly, but it wasn't this distract.
I am trying to find a free/good video calibration software to double check my settings. But so far it's pretty good across the board, except for when I move my head slightly... lol. -
