Since there is a dedicated thread for STEAM, may as well have one for the 'other' great download service.
Here's this weekend's offers

You're more than welcome to maintain a thread of Impluse deals. If it's constantly updated, I can add it to the main gaming sticky (and put a link in the Steam deals thread).

+1 for resurrecting this thread concept. Stardock+Impulse ftw.

This weekend's offers include a bunch of $5 ~ $15 indie titles and of course the big news of EA titles now being offered. Also note the 10% off for Resident Evil 5.
Linky in post #1 will point you in the right direction. -

This weekend Impulse have a few good ones on sale.
The entire X-Com series classic for $9.99. Don't let the decidely dated graphics put you off. It is a great sci-fi strategy epic.
The Witcher Enhanced Edition for $9.99 as well. The sequel has just been announced so don't miss out on a great RPG if you haven't played it already. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
what is Impulse like?
is there an English version? i mean to buy the games in £££ and not $$$ -
Impulse is similar to STEAM but software apps are also available. Impulse have a better stance on the issue of DRM as well. One example is once the particular game is downloaded you do not ever need to be on the internet again to activate/play it. STEAM allows the user to play offline but in order to do so there still needs to be some online validity check beforehand if I'm not mistaken. STEAM also annoyingly needs to be installed/activated for certain games that are bought retail (eg. Total War). Where STEAM's strenghths lie is in the game content. Impulse carry some 'main stream' titles but the bulk of their stuff kind of lean to the independants or lesser known titles. I obviously prefer Impulse over STEAM. But as long as there's Half-Life/Portal....
I believe Stardock/Impulse only transact in US funds. -
I don't like the fact that some games are unavailable in the UK region. The only game I have on Impulse is Demigod. Love the fact that you don't need to run Impulse Reactor to startup the games/programs once you've installed them
-
So is Impulse a download client? I already have GFWL and Steam and that is one too many already.
-
^Yes, Impulse is a download client utility. Personally, I'd dump the GFWL if you can and stick w/ STEAM & Impulse.

Not a weekend deal, but...
Impulse also has some of the Apogee catalog...
$6 for Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition (FPS) and
$6 for Duke Nukem Manhattan Project (platformer)
(gog.com has same games for the same price...whichever service makes you more comfortable...)
For those of us spoiled by HDR, bloom, post-processing, we won't be impressed...
But all that FPS gaming goodness in Duke Nukem 3D and the file size is less than 30 MB!!! 30 MB these days is barely enough for a texture...
