I decided to bring back some of the old games out of the closet, now that i have a much better computer to run them (maxed out of course)
Im trying Rainbow Six 3 Raven Shield. I was having some problems with it not being able to start up ( it would just freeze at the intro screen) but now ive got it running. Ive come to another problem though. When i play, it seems like if im going to turbo mode sometimes. First, , i walk very very slow.No im not crouchingWhen i reload, i reload in a split second, i just see the characters hands move frantically for a bit, then a full clip appears. In addition, the enemies run fast, and shoot fast, turbo mode style. Im guessing its because Of my processor, maybe because RS3 RS wasnt made when dual core processors were around
(following specs)
Dell E1505
Intel Core duo 2.0 ghz
1.0 gb ram
x1400 gpu
Anyone ever have this problem with old games, and might be able to help me out?![]()
thanks!

I have no problem running Raven Shield on my E1505 (same specs as yours but with 2GB ram). Make sure you have the newest video drivers and the newest patch from UbiSoft for the game.
-
I have fond memories of Raven Shield. I agree that installing the latest patches for the game may help you.

OMG I use to play Raven Shield so much back in the day, one of my favourite games. I do remember just have my clips empty out at times, or it may have been another game? So have you checked online? Do people still play it online? Does anyone else find that CS:S CT models looks like very similar to the models in Raven Shield?

Well I must say that I have the same problems with the Raven Shield on my laptop, even though I installed the newest patch it didn't even help a bit!
There are some certain points where the game work normally although the problems keep coming back again when I reboot the computer.
I've been trying to fix the problem but with no luck at all.
Well anywho, if someone know how to fix the problem be sure to write back here, the same goes for me 2 hehe. Have fun with the game, we do still play the game even though it is an old game it is still fun. -
I've recently had this issue as well. I have a solution. The problem has to do with the game not liking your dual core system. The fix is to use a batch file and a command line program to set the processor affinity of the game to only one of your cores after it starts.
I got the utility to set the CPU affinity from here: Beyond Logic
After that, I created a batch file with the following contents:
Hope this helps, Brendon S. Allan.
EDIT: The same process works for other games as well. Just replace RavenShield.exe with the filename of the other game's executable after the start command and change the RavenShield.exe after the process.exe command to the process name or PID of the other game. -
Thx, HG_CassiusA, but I have to be the uberNoob and ask, what do I name the batch file.
I'm assuming that I copy and past what you used into Notepad?
Okay, just Googled how to create a batch.....Raven Shield runs as it should.
Thanks again.
Figured it out...(Google still is my friend)
Since I was able to "fix" RvS, I tried it out on my other old games: Rogue Spear; Unreal Tournament, and the Infiltration Mod. -
Never liked Raven S. Always played Rogue Spear on Gamespy since the game was introduced!

wow, sorry havent looked into this lately, i kinda gave up
Would it work if i just go to the process menu and right click and "set affinity" ? Ill try it tomorrow, its sleep time now
-
thanks for the idea HG_CassiusA, it loaded
but now, it keeps minimizing on its ownI already updated it, so im not sure what to do next
Any other ideas anyone?
Thanks!
EDIT:
I got it working, Folding @ home was running, and taking too much of the CPU i guess, i just closed it, and it works now
Weird problem with Raven Shield
