Hey guys, I just received my HP 2711x LED monitor and I am loving it so far but there is just one small, but very annoying problem. I am driving the monitor with my M17x R3 with a 580M.
When I try to play Youtube videos in full-screen, the brightness shoots way up to the point where it's basically almost white. I have tried different videos, downloading them directly to my computer...to no avail! It only happens when going full-screen. The fact that it also occurs even after downloading it has me stumped.
I have tried messing with monitor settings...i have tried messing with the Nvidia Control Panel but all those settings affect the ENTIRE display, resulting in an undesired effect on the youtube video.
Any ideas?...
EDIT: Seems I am not the only person that has had this problem...

EDIT 2: I've tried narrowing down the problem...here's what I found so far...
1. On "Duplicate Displays", BOTH my M17x and the monitor have the brightness problem.
2. The problem is only through HDMI, no problems using VGA. What?!

I know this is an old thread but I had the exact same problem when viewing youtube videos in fullscreen and found it was because of the video settings in the Nvidia control panel. In the Nvidia control panel > Video> Adjust video color settings> 2. How do you make color adjustments?, if you have "with the Nvidia settings" selected then youtube uses the settings in Color, Gamma, and Advanced when it's in fullscreen. Adjust the settings under those tabs until the video brightness and color in youtube fullscreen is the same as youtube not fullscreen. The settings "Dynamic Contrast Enhancement" and "Color enhancement" in Advanced tab boosts the brightness and tweaks the color as well so you should probably uncheck those.
Another option is to not select "With the Nvidia settings". If instead you use "With the video player settings" that will also fix the fullscreen issue. But then if you use a video player to watch a movie (like VLC or MPC) and you're not using the Nvidia settings the player might not use the Full (0-255) Dynamic range of your monitor and the video will look bright and washed out so you should change the setting back to use the Nvidia settings. Personally I use the first option.
You probably won't see this post but maybe someone else with the same problem will so I hope it helps someone.katalin_2003 likes this. -
Heya,
I had this same problem for a while.
Turns out that switching "Hardware acceleration" off in the flash player settings (Right click youtube player -> settings) solved this.
Hope this helps youtomida2nd likes this. -
