    Have you installed the latest patch? They just released a v1.4 patch, although I've been running on v1.3 for a while and haven't had this problem.

    I get the same thing. You must have a Realtek sound chip and Vista (same problem with Bioshock). I tried updating the drivers and the problem continued so I uninstalled the drivers and let Windows install its own drivers (the ones from june 2006) and it seemed to solve the problem. I only ran it for a while and went back to the Realtek drivers because you lose the sound control panel and the volume hot keys don't work with the windows drivers so you lose either way.

    I got the same problem.I'm use 169.25 driver for VGA(8600M GT) & use Realtek 1.83 HD driver for audio.I haven't notice FPS drop after the freeze, but it's really annoying

    had this problem,until i updated my drivers to the ones in my sig !!

    it also came up with the "graphics card has recovered forma n error message, ive not had the problem since changing drivers !

    Your video driver is failing. Mine does it to as well.

    Happens mostly with COD4, but experienced it on other games as well.

    Likely a Vista or a NVIDIA issue.
