Crysis runs fine in the default DX10 mode on my laptop (in sig), framerates are OK-ish on low (around 20 fps @ 1200x800).

But when I right click the shortcut and select run in DX9, the menus and movies are very juddery. Once you start playing though, the framerate is much faster than DX10 (around 30 fps) and very smooth.

Has anyone encounterd this problem before? Any ideas to fix it?

    Thanks.

I advice you to upgrade all your drivers. I also had the same problem on my Fujitsu Siemens Pi1556.

In game (when lag starts) press ~ and you will get the console. You will see several errors here (at least I think so)... That means something is wrong.

    - Update drivers (audio, graphics, chipset everything)
    - Update Windows
    - Defrag and run unnecessary applications

You should run it fine then. But remember that Crysis runs better on nVidia cards, so there might be problems with compatibleness.
