I had about an 8GB load on my computer and had multiple programs and browsers opened. I thought maybe I could start some unplayed Steam games so that they would get past the Startup Setup. Did that for Stronghold 3 and it worked. Next tried Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 and it didn't work past startup. Every time I try to run it it stops working on loadup and says Windows error... So how do I fix this game? Uninstall and reinstall it?
If you had a similar problem to the same or a different game how did you fix your Steam game problem?
I closed up several programs to a 4.7 GB memory load and it still didn't work. Haven't tried a reboot yet because booting take 10 minutes on my loaded up computer.

Try "verify integrity of local files" (in the properties menu for the game).
if that doesn't work and you can't get help from the Steam forum for the game or the game's official forum, you can also try to reinstall.
Ideally it's best to make backup files for all your Steam games and put them on an external drive. This way if you ever need to reinstall, you won't have to download the entire game again. -
You can try:
Run steam.exe/[game].exe as administrator
Compadiblity mode to Windows XP. -
See if there is a service running called Nvidia Media Center Library and disable that.

I logged off and then logged on. It didn't work and it wouldn't validate the game cache. After a 10 min reboot it still acted the same, - especially it wouldn't validate the game cache for the Star Wars game. I tested validating Stronghold 3 and it worked properly. So I guess my next move is to just delete local content and redownload the whole game again. I guess starting up a game with a tons of programs and browsers loaded up is a bad idea, - maybe that's how my Star Wars game got messed up?
I also changed the General properties of the Steam desktop icon to "Run as administrator." It didn't work. Steam runs fine in Win 7.
I don't think any Nividia process is at fault.
I have a Steam Games backup folder on my USB Drive and it's 805GB big. -
ya pretty much verify integrity and if that doesn't work
ask on the steam forums:
Force Unleashed 2 Tech Problems - Steam Users' Forums
seem other users have issues too -

Another thing you could try is to check for viruses and root kits. Our desktop couldn't run portal 2 because it had a root kit. After cleaning it the game started without issues.

I don't know if hardware incompatibility could be the cause or not.
Sometimes, game publishers list hardware requirements to prevent customers from becoming unhappy about watching a slide show. Other times, the games actually run hardware checks and will refuse to start. X-Wing and Tie Fighter, back in the day, refused to run if you didn't have a joystick plugged into your computer. At least then, LucasArts was kind enough to provide a message telling you what you needed to change.
I don't think you have a corrupted .blob file or nothing in Steam would run. You wouldn't be able to log into your account. And in my experience (lots and lots of Steam games), I've only had corrupted game files on download once or twice. With Magicka, I had to install a newer version of Microsoft .NET framework to get it to run right. Steam tried to help me and told me that I needed the newer version, but I thought that I was smarter and refused to let it install (that also fixed the intro to Street Fighter IV and Silent Hunter IV).
If you're still having problems, I can download Force Unleashed and see what it does on my m1710...the hardware is very similar to the E1705s you own, and I imagine that the original game is coded similar to the sequel. -
sometimes "verify integrity of local files" won't work! no matter how many times I click it nothing changes. still stop responding when I lunch the game. and worked perfectly once I reinstalled steam.

I'm trying to play Force Unleashed 2 on my i7 2600K desktop. There are no viruses or root kit infections on it. Steam doesn't like setting the General Tab to "Run as Administrator."
I got the game to work by totally deleting it and redownloading it / rerunning it. After a reboot on the first game try it had the same startup error. But somehow it worked on the 2nd startup try.
Thanks for all your input and help. I guess Force 2 is known to be a bit buggy on startup. "Verify integrity of local files" never worked on this game! -
Hope it helps.
