Alot of you on hear say you can "play" this game on high and highest with no AA on the 9600m GT. Now when you say that you can play does that mean it is playable. I was playing cod4 with a friend with an asus w/ 9600m and when I put it on high with no AA it was very laggy and turning corners lagged. My question pretty much is: How many frames do you get on these games when you say they are playable?
-
What was he on? It's a decent card but it's still mid range and is not meant to run games at the highest settings. Though, getting the newest drivers from laptopdrivers2go.com helped TREMENDOUSLY. The stock DV5t video drivers are horrible and old. I saw like a 20 FPS boost just by updating to the latest drivers; maybe that's the problem?
-
I could play the game at 30fps with no AA with most options maxed out... And that was with a 8600m GT GDDR2... Are you playing with the maximum battery profile enabled or something?
-
Overclock it! http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=4234941#post4234941
I get decent frame rates on highest at 1280*800 before overclock and decent frame rates on highest at 1680*1050 with overclock. -
CoD4 should be very playable on max settings at a good res(1440x900). you need to get laptopvideo2go.com drivers. they are modded drivers that increase performance for games and other media. the stock drivers generally sucks. but really, it should run at 25-30fps with ur card. what proc. do u have and make sure ur not running a very high res.
-
well I tried those drivers. can someone recomend one for me? We pretty much have the same set up. Like I tried to go to dox 180.84 but i had to system restore. Like what do i uninstall and how? The sticky doesnt really help. His were stock.

COD4 is pretty good on this card I find. I can play at 1400x900 with max settings and it plays well. I was playing at 1680x1050 the other day as well and it wasn't too bad... there was occasionally a little lag, but not enough to make me switch back down to a lower res.

to answer your question, for me, 20+ for non-shooting games, 25 for shooting games is the minimum
-
Overclocking is not a solution. I was always getting BSOD's with 180.XX drivers...so i rolled back to WHQL 178.13 and I dont see any problems with any of my games..they all run well.
@cumbaya19,did you try turning off vsync?
20-25 for flight sim X is great.
Agree with ryo1000,for shooting games a minimum average of 25 is required. -
make sure nVidia's powermizer or w/e it's called is disabled when you play. Otherwise it underclocks your graphics card. Do you have any extra programs running in the background? What resolution setting?

do you have problems in installing the drivers? -
well its not clear to me as to how I uninstall my current drivers
-
30-35 FPS min for shooters, especially multiplayer.
22-30 for other genres. -
Why dont you just uninstall the device/driver from "Device Manager"?
reboot, then install the new drivers. Dont forget to replace the modded inf in the driver setup folder. -
I noticed such a ridiculous performance increase when I went from the stock drivers to the latest dox ones when playing FEAR and COD4. -
-
ok i am getting the same frames but in the NBA 2k9 demo it seems like its sluggish.
-
Really? In 2k9 I went from being able to play at 1024 x 768 with the crowd at low to easily playing at 1400x900 with the crowd at medium.
