What GPU are you running in your desktop/laptop and what clocks are you running at? I'm just curious to know what the majority of users out there are using, I'm personally using a GT650M GDDR5 2GB at 1080/2500.

It really depends on what you use your laptop/desktop for. I have 2 laptops, HP elitebook 2560p with the HD3000 and a sager 8150 with a AMD 6990m. I run everything on stock settings.

I use the Sager to game on and I use the elitebook on sell on ebay with 20 accounts.

I'm currently running 2x Geforce 460 GTXs in SLI overclocked to 850/2000. I got the second one for $90 so it's been a good alternative to upgrading. It will play anything out there on ultra. I've been around here looking on info on notebooks after all the annoyance I've been through trying to buy one that doesn't throttle terribly. I'm eyeing Geforce 560m+ for the next one... that I will probably end up returning.

Holy fudge, AMD and Nvidia really upped their game with these mobile cards, I still think AMD needs to update their CPU's to keep up at all with Intel.

AMD 7970M is a core downclocked version of the 7870. Instead of 1GHz, it's down to 850MHz, however it does run quite cool and has some overclocking potential. The VRAM is the exact same so the 7970m is very comparable to the 7870. The GTX 670m is a rebadged 570m, the closest desktop equivalent is the gtx 560, it's a high-end card but it doesn't come close to the 7970m or 680m and is only slightly faster than the 660m. The 660m is kepler architecture so it is not comparable at all to the gtx 550 ti as that's fermi architecture, the best card to compare the 660m to is the GT 640.

Comparing as in performance wise, I know they have completely different architectures...

You should overclock that GTX 660m, you could get very good performance out of it

Not that much, the clock gap is close between the desktop 7870 and the 7970m than for the desktop 5770 and mobility 5870, but it's still pretty much the same as previous generation, the highest end laptop GPU is close to the second highest end tier desktop GPU. (5870m -> HD5770, 7970m -> HD7870). There was an architecture change though which is the main reason for the increase in performance vs the previous generation which is both true for the desktop and laptop GPUs. This generation of laptop GPUs are a little closer to their desktop counterparts than the last two though.

AMD 5830m (no desktop, only a laptop). It runs nearly every game I've tried at 1080p, often with max or mostly maxed settings. The only game I had a lot of trouble with is Witcher 2, which runs very poorly even at 720p on lowest possible settings.

I used to overclock with the AMD GPU Clock Tool utility when I first got this laptop about three years ago, but then I realized most games run just fine at stock clocks and haven't OC'd for a long time. When gaming I just switch my power plan to High Performance, make sure I'm plugged into AC and use a Zalman laptop cooler.
