What RTS do you guys think I should get?
-
-
Can't recommend you much but DEFINITELY NOT Red Alert 3.
If you haven't play Warcraft 3, start now. Should be in the value bucket now. -
Warcraft 3 is decidely not in the value bucket. Blizzard still wanting $40 for the Battle Chest because they can still get it. Total Annihiliation is a classic and runs on anything. Company of Heroes is also very entertaining.
-
Company of Heroes.
-
I love company of heros. Has anyone played Sins of the Solar Empire?

Sin of a solar empire
Great and very long games.
5+ hours with just one friend. with just two other bots at normal.
Can contorl over 1000 plants with mods.
World In conflict.
Very fast and very hard.
But get game to do lans and team work.
C&C 3 RA3.
Only play if you can still stand RA2
Not Really but Turn based stragy.
Galactic Civilizations II like sins but even slower but yet still hard since you have to deal with lots of factors.
And for future proofing.
Tom clancy endwar. No Idea. -
One of the best games ever. -
Loved Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, haven't tried Red Alert 3 but from the reviews here I shouldn't waste my money.
-
Depends really on the era you want to play:
Sci Fi: Dawn of War (fast, skirmish type warfare)
Sins (epic, economical warfare)
WW2: Company of Heroes
Cold War: World in Conflict -
World in Conflict is complete B0110CK5. Terrible gameplay, insanely terrible story...
Get Company of Heroes, no contest. -
If you want an everlasting game with huge community support (mods), then I suggest Red Alert 3 or Starcraft 2 (not released yet). Even if you grow tired of the game, there are still many mods you can try out to keep you entertained. In other words, if the game is "mod" friendly, and as long as the community is there, then it'll probably be worth it. Starcraft and CnC are the only two RTS games that have a large community support and is mod-friendly afaik.
If you don't care about mods, but just want to play the game then move on to another game, and prefer realism, then company of heroes is for you. -
wow... epic fail for all of you.
Starcraft.. Get Starcraft, heck get the battlechest will cost you like 10-15 bucks I think and you have one of the greatest games of all time and its expansion. Endless playability, great SP and MP.
Enjoy.

Love company of heroes. Loved Starcraft back in the day.
-
+1 Company of Heroes,
+1 COH: Opposing Fronts
I wouldn't buy anything else, maybe, that tom clancy one.. maybe.. -
SUPREME COMMANDER forged alliance
still outstanding and will tear apart any current RTS.
problem is it died an early death when it was realised due to it requiring a high end dual or quad.
so only the rich could play it, now people are returning after now getting quads and duals look into it
played RA3 after burning out on supreme commander, and now im back on it
RA3 wasnt really worth playing for me... -
Starcraft, still has a massive online community and very cheap now.
-
Carriers FTW!!! -
StarCraft: very re-playable
World in Conflict: very hard
Sins of a Solar Empire: very long
All of them are very fun, I have CoH on my HDD but I'm not installing it until my new system comes in. But I hear it is very good. -
+1 for Dawn of war
-
I already have Company of Heroes so I think I'm leaning towards Sins. Can't wait to see how the new total war game is.
-
anyway, i would recommend you try the demos of the games first so that you yourself will know if it is worth your time and money. other peoples opinions vary greatly and you might enjoy a game others don't and vice versa. bottomline is: you will be the one buying/playing it so it is your decision that matters.
i have tried doing this in the past: asking which game is good and what to avoid, alas, i found out that oftentimes, the ones people tell me to stay away from are quite good and the ones highly recommended, plainly s*cked. that's when i realized that what may be good for one may be terrible for another and vice versa. so nowadays, i just download the demos and judge for myself.
goodluck. -
starcraft +100000000 if you haven't played it, its a must. Infact those who haven't played most likely are followers of satan.
get starcraft and save your soul -
played plenty of star craft back in the day also loved the AofE games.
-
World in Conflict: hard to get the hang of, really intense battles, very fast paced,
Total War: epic battles, epic campaign
Command & Conquer: changed 2 much ova the series 2 describe lol -
The Relic Super Pack currently on Steam includes Company Of Heroes + COH: Opposing Fronts, and Dawn Of War + Winter Assault, in a $49.99 bundle. Hard to beat that deal. -
-
How about Supreme Commander? Great game
-
Age of Empires II anyone?
-
I ended up getting Sins and really like it although they weren't kidding about the long games.
-
Empire & Earth 2 is pretty good. I have it and I used to have good time playing it with friends over internet. For example you can play 2 player game both controlling same empire against 1-6 computer players. It is pretty fun.
BTW, Empire & Earth 3 is not good, it sucks... -
I remember playing the demo over and over again when I was kid while trying to save up for the full game, haha.
Also I find Battle For Middle Earth 2 to be quite enjoyable. You can probably pick it up real cheap now, too. -
Didn't some one make a pretty good RTS mod of ArmA?
-
hands down. Warcraft 3. the game is so dynamic. I've been playing it for over 4 years and I still feel like I'm learning. Undead FTW!
(There is a reason Blizzard still wants 40 bucks for the battlechest) -
A friend told me Red Alert 3 has 4-5k players online during peak hours. Thats huge for an rts. Way more than Dawn of War, Company of Hero, CnC 3, and battle for middle earth has. I'm sure its under War3 and Starcraft however.
Can anyone else verify the MP community for RA 3? My friend said he was using the /players command to check. -
Red Alert 3 is classic. haha and fun i suggest that
Medieval total war 2 is awesome
and company of heroes -
I'm enjoying a game I found on GOG.com, the price was right for sure. Soldiers: Heroes of WWII. Really impressed so far, fun stuff! Definately worth checking out.
-
Sin of a solar empire, supreme commander
-
Supreme Commander (Forged Alliance) is really good if you have a powerful PC.
Dawn of War, (Winter Assault, Dark Crusade) is cheap now and incredible. Timeless fun for all.
Both stardocks newer strats are good, although only Sins of a Solar Empire is actually an RTS.
In the end the best thing to do is see what RTS games your friends have, or want to try, becuase playing with a friend on a good game will usually trump playing without on a great game. -
yeah dawn of war is good dont forget Home world
-
i play hearts of iron 2, aoe2, coh, m2 total war, empire earth 1 (although 2 is alright) sins of a solar empire isn't bad.
-
Starcraft with expansion all the way. Heard dawn of war aint bad either but SC wins all.
-
If you can wait till feb, go for Empire Total war! Granted it's not pure RTS (there's a complex turn-based map of the Civilization mould) but the real-time battles are WITHOUT PEER! Checkout Rome: Total War or Medieval II Total War to see what I'm on about
-
Let's not forget Dawn Of War II in February!
Gameplay.
Tyranids!
Meet the Blood Ravens! -
Act of War
Perimeter
Spellforce 2 (just missed a great deal on Steam)
Dragonshard
Of the ones mentioned, Dawn of War is probably my favorite followed by Warcraft 3...
If you don't like the story from World in Conflict, but like the engine...Ground Control 2 is the same thing in a sci-fi setting...World in Conflict was built from the Ground Control 2 engine... -
lol everyone he got the game already.
its sins of a solar empire, a great game!
