Hmmmm . . . 3.0 Ghz. 800 Mhz FSB . . . I would not think that you would encounter any problems with that rig. Upgrading the processor is always nice, if you have the cash.
Dell Inspiron 8600:
* 1.6 Ghz Pentium M * 1024 MB DDR SDRAM * 60 GB 7200 RPM HD * 15.4" WSXGA+ * Internal Bluetooth * Intel Pro/Wireless 2200 * 4x CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) * ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo 128 MB * Win XP Pro SP2 *
* Apple 17" PowerBook G4 * 14" Toshiba Tecra 8000 * Apple 14" iBook G4 * -
That is a very powerful and expensive notebook. I think it will run any game very well. If you can afford it boost the CPU buts its the least important factor in your setup I think as far as gaming goes.
Compaq R3000T (CTO)
P4 Desktop 3.0GHz w/HT
2 X 1024MB RAM
Radeon 9600 128MB
60GB 7,200RPM HD

Man this would tear up any game, dont worry about anything [

It will play it fine. But you realize that that is not a laptop but a true desktop replacement system
That thing is going to be very very heavy!!!

I have the same Q because my laptop is still being built HOWEVER I feel that both of ours and including yours should be able to handle HL2 and the rest of the higher up games.
HP ZD8000 | 3.4GHz P4 650 w/HT Tech | 100 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive | 1GB RAM, 533 MHz | 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon X600 | 17" WSXGA+ Wide View -

How does the Go 6600 compare with x600? Also, how can you tell how fast a gpu is?

I have a ATI Radeon 9700 and it is not so bad
I can play doom 3 on medium grafics and 1024/768 but when I start to shot it gets a little slower so I set it to 800/600 and its really smooth. -
Does anyone use any graphics cards besides ones made by ATI or Nvidia? On mwave.com and stuff they have this huge list of companies, but i've never heard of any of them.
-
How about a Geforce Go 6200? DOes it have 8-pipelines architecture?
Does having more pieplines means better theoretically? -
Its not even a theory. Check the tests done on toms hardware or something with a graphics card with 16 pipelines vs one with 12. The fps is much higher
What Should I Get to Play DOOM
