I really like games that have a good story and good multi-player experience, but due to my weak GPU, I can't enjoy a good story without turning any effects on or higher resolutions on.
Here are games that I've enjoyed on my PS3 and Xbox 360:
Gears of War 2
COD (Both MW and W@W)
Resident Evil 5
Resistance 1 & 2
Killzone 2
I have COD4 also on my laptop, but the graphics aren't as nice as my PS3/Xbox so I'm looking for something that I can play and have fun still.
What games do you guys suggest? (or should I just be looking at that GMA 4500 game thread?)

For a 9300m, you're really looking at anything over 2-3 years old. Stuff like Oblivion etc turned down will play fine; just don't expect wonders; the PS3/360 were based around a 7900GTX/X1800-with-DX10-bits GPU setup, with heavy optimisation; so they've got a better platform for pure graphical 'shiny'.
It depends on what you're really looking for -
Well, something I can play at native resolution would be fine, even if the nice graphical features are turned down.
I just realized Gears of War 1 was released on PC...I've only play the 2nd on 360 and I think the first was released like Nov 2006? Would my graphics card be able to handle it?
First person shooter or third person shooters are my type of thing. I don't like games like WOW.
EDIT: oh, also had a thought, what about devil may cry, either 3 or 4...i've never played any of them but I highly enjoyed Resident Evil 5, and they are from the same company right? -
Warcraft 3 and TFT expansion are RTS games with a hint of RPG via heros. Blizzard makes games with good stories, this one is no exception. For added value check out DOTA, though, it's addictive.
For FPS you should get half life 2 if you haven't. HL2 isn't really all that demanding as well. -
Unreal Tournament 2004, and it's single player counterpart, Unreal II: The Awakening, should run quite smoothly on that, and are some of the best shooters ever. And I second btogrman's recommendation of Half-Life 2; it's widely regarded as one of the best shooters ever made, and runs on nothing.
Halo for PC is also a good choice; it was released in 2003 as a port of the Xbox game that came out in 2001. It doesn't ask too much of your hardware. -
I, as a 9300M GS owner myself, found out that the card actually has a bit of potential. Most tasking game I've thrown was GTAIV on it, and although it doesn't look that good it does play up to 25fps (using DOX 180.86 i think, the driver optimized for GTAIV).
I also play Wanted: Weapons of Fate on it, albeit with 800x600 resolution and low details. Assassin's Creed plays good too, although you may have to use DX9 instead of DX10. I've also played R6Vegas, and Burnout Paradise on it. Haven't tried RTS's too much yet, so no idea there.
Although I know this will last me through more than one year I'm starting to save up to trade the 9300M GS for another (specifically a mobility 4650, since it does look like it will fit) so if you could, then that might be an option. Maybe. Haha. Anyway, yeah, it has potential, just not for full blow-your-mind-away graphics quality (one weakness of the 9300M GS is shadows, another is a ****load of textures, lol). -
Lego racer 2
Barbie fashion show
Tonka search & rescue 2 -
Well i am currently enjoying COD 4 at 1024x768 all high except i turned off the shadows and soft smoke edges and it looks and play decent for me, thats well above 30fps. Other games that i tried are based on source engine and those also play good enough on min to med details at 1280x800 or at high details at 1024x768. So for performance vs gameplay on this kind of card i would reccomend both Half Life 2 episodes including original and Portal for single player or Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike source, Day of Defeat source if you would like to play multiplayer.

I'm going to recommend Quake Live - it's beta, but don't let that discourage you, hundreds of thousands are enjoying it as I type this. It's free, it runs from a browser (Fullscreen or Windowed) and well.. I can't really say anything bad about it.
Ofcourse, it has no story, but then, multiplayer FPS rarely does, unless you're playing co-op.

Far cry is great!

I like your half life 2 suggestion but I heard the game (or story as a whole) is done yet. Its still missing episode 3/4?
So I think the games I'm going to buy/try are:
1) Devil May Cry 4
2) Gears of War 1
3) Halo 1
4) Half-Life 2
Which of these games will run at 1600x900, and which will probably be the cheapest? -

Halo and Half Life 2 (and Unreal 2 if you can find it) will be the cheapest. Quake Live is basically Quake 3 run through the browser, and is an FPS.
The 9300GS is better than the Intel 4500, but neither are powerful in the current scheme of things.
Farcry1 as mentioned above will play fine too -
-
My suggestion isn't really a recently released game but it should run fine on your hardware. It's a 2D-based fighting game in the same genre as the recently released SF4 (but much less demanding).
-
You can check the link in my sig, it shows how a 9200M can game (albeit with horrible settings, lol).
Buy the Orange Box, those games will run beautifully on a 9300M -
I played COD4 nicely with a 8400GS GDDR3.
-
The expansion, however, can be quite annoying with plenty of missions require you to control two bases, usually 1 to defend and 1 to kill the enemy with.
I would say to at least try the first game if you can find a good price for the original and expansion seperately.
What are good games for the nVidia 9300m GS?
