    What are signs of a broken graphic card?

    Alright well mine sint broken But I am scared to install a graphic card update for my notebook. Well I downloaded it but I didnt install it. But I am thinking it might of did something to my graphics card. I played some counter strike and it was working perfectly and I did a video stress test to see if everything was ok. It was very smooth and fast. So I am guessing my graphic card isnt broken but I wanted to know what are signs it might of been broken if it has failed?

    I just wanted to know signs about graphics card and because I was wanted tp know for when I install it and if I download it, it might affect my gc somehow

    Um...did you download this driver from laptopvideo2go.com? If so, you need to use their custom .inf file to install it. Also, heh, if your computer doesn't even boot up or start to smell like something is frying...THEN, you should be deeply deeply concerned. Until then, no GPU drivers are going to do that.

    it's usually very obvious so as long as the game runs fine and there is nothing weird on the screen you should be fine. also you might wanna get hwmonitor to monitor your temps

    I really dont see why you are so concerned...

    You could also get drivers right directly from nVidia.com


    You probably woul insta-notice problems :D
    Like... random colors, lines, shapes, objects, melting laptop, black screen... you know... broken looks lol

    Don't worry about installing drivers. The worst thing a driver can do to you is go completely corrupt and mess up and then your PC will just start in low 16 bit color in a 640x480 res and youll have to navigate in that ugliness and re-install the drivers properly. And then everything will be good again. Drivers really can't do any harm to any of your pc.

    However if your card actually fails' which is completely unrelated to software, like when my faulty 8600M failed. My whole laptop just wouldent turn on, lights would go on, hard drive would go on, but the screen backlight and stuff would not go on.

    to add to MonkeyMhz's post, if that happens, try an external monitor. If you can get picture using an external monitor but nothing on the laptop, it's your screen/display and not the card itself. If you can't get a picture with the external monitor either, it's the card.
