If you like BG, must try neverwinter nights 2 which from the same developer. Also try the Elder Scroll IV Obilvion, one of the best for now. If you like online RPG, World of Warcraft is a must try too.

Dude.. you need to get Baldur's gate 2 if you haven't played that. Sure, it has dated graphics, but still the best straight RPG for PC.

Oblivion is sweet too. But I don't think it's as good as BG2.

I haven't tried NWN2 yet... but WoW is a great RPG as well, if, as Dell said, you like online games.

The StarWars: Knights of the Old Republic games (1 and 2) are 2 of the best games i've ever played. They're a few years old at this point, so should run very well on any newer laptop. But they're excellent games. Highly recommended.

I actually think oblivion is the best rpg ever.

It may not have some of the finer points of a semi linear story game like planescape torment

but the game itself is just so addictive and has so much content. Its the size of all those baldurs gate games put together.

    Fallout 1 and 2, Icewind Dale 1 and 2.

They're old, but the new RPGs just don't compare.

I have played BG, BG-ToSC, BG-2, BG-2-ToB... This is the best RPG I have ever played. I believe they rate that as the "best turn-based RPG of all time"

I will be getting an NC8430 tomorrow :D :D :D :D . From what I have read, this should be plenty of power for Oblivion.

If you like a space sim/RPG, go for Freelancer. You can probably buy it for $10 at CompUSA nowadays and it's just awesome. Sorta like Tie Fighter, but with RPG elements and a "wide open" Oblivion feel to it.

Dungeon Siege II is more like Baldurs Gate/Diablo Type, I think you'll really enjoy that.

Oblivion is of course good as well but less straight-forward.

Im going to double stress DS2 it really is like the most underrated game of 2005. It got killed by a bad expansion and terrible online patching/support (thank you gas powered games!) and it definitely could have been Diablo 2.5 :).

oh well if you like all the bg games there is also icewind dale and icewind dale 2. I didnt like them as much but they are the same engine. Sort of a smaller world but a lot more fighting monsters.

But the best one is planescape torment.

If you havent played that youve got to.

Gothic 3, most immersive and addictive fantasyworld up to date. Gothic 1/2 are also great thirdperson 3D-rpg landmarks for older computers.

    Oh...Diablo I & II...Classic action RPG....the most popular RPG at all time.....
Not to mention that most current RPG is also based on that element.

    How about Final Fantasy??
