OK I just got some money and I need some help findig a good FPS. I have halo,halo2,The Orange Box, BF2, BF2142,CS:S and COD4 What other first person shooters do you recommend?
-
-
Bioshock, maybe Crysis.
-
Call of Duty 2
Unreal Tournament (99, 2K4, or III)
Crysis (I dig it)
Farcry
Quake 4
Bioshock
I don't know... those are some of my favorites, aside from the ones you listed. -
I have bio-shock for my 360 and I hace quake 4 for my 360. I had a hard time running the crysis demo on low so I better not buy it. Forgot about unreal Tournment 3 have to try that is there a demo for it?

Battlefield 2142
Battlefiled 2
Far Cry
Unreal Tournament 2004
Yes there is UT3 demo, I prefer UT 2004 much more tho and its easier on the system, probably one of the best optimized games out there. -
-
do you have the link to UT3 demo?
-
Maybe give Crysis a try.
Tim -
Agree with Tim, I had some problems with the Crysis demo, but the full game runs great. (Although I run it at 1024x768, medium/low)

far cry was free, apparently that program got shut down. you can still get the download, but i don't know how you'd start it. i'm running crysis on my m1530 (low/med) takes out most of the graphical awe, but it's still fun. i love bioshock and the orange box, of course you already have those.

Has anyone tried Ghost recon Advanced Warfighter 2 for pc?
-
If you don't like your hair, GRAW2 is great. All your hair will be gone after you die for the 4389th time during the "easy" tutorial.
-
ok wont get ghost recon 2 lol
-
F.E.A.R. was fun.
There's also Doom 3 although I couldn't finish it on the account that it scared the **** out of me. -

Yeah I 2nd the recommendation for FEAR. Its my favorite fps released in the last couple of years and it can probably be found for $20 with expansions. And if you don't wanna pay for it or just wanna check it out the multiplayer can be downloaded and played completely free, its still easy to find matches any time of the day.

Orange box, Cod4, Unreal 3.
-
Let me say.. If you want an FPS game in every word then its Fear or Time Shift. they have Identical Game experience.
-
Timeshift was not that great.
UT3 is fast paced and looks great.
OB, no questions asked, awesome game set.
Maybe crysis, for its looks... -
maybe its not great. but since FPS these days means shoot everyone you see, then its considered great (well HL2 doesnt work like this, but its only one game)
-
Stay away from Bioshock if you are looking for replay value.
Get the Orange box and Gmod. -
I consider Bioshock the best ive played, already done it 5 times, great story, great plot, great gameplay

If you haven't done so already... it would be worth installing Steam!
Other games you might want to consider, include Painkiller (also available in Steam), Alien Arena (FREE!), Alpha Prime, Pschychotoxic, Call of Juarez, Far Cry (now available FREE - albeit ad supported), Frontlines: Fuel of War, Call of Cthulhu, Area 51: Blacksite, Stalker, Halo 2, Americas Army: Special Forces (FREE!), Dispatch of Army (MMO-FPS), and the 'Brothers in Arms' series.
Finally... War Rock is a FREE MMO-FPS
BTW: For even more suggestions... fill yer boots over on First Person Shooters -
I thought War Rock was the cheesiest pile of dung released for the PC. When the game came out, I remember actually thinking they were mocking a First Person Shooter game... then I found out it was a real effort.
It's sad, really. -

Wow. Just, Wow. You need to Steam to play any Valve game. (Counter Strike, Half Life, etc.) You stated you had CS:S, but you don't know what Steam is?
-
it's an application developed by Valve (who created the HL series) that kinda works like EA download manager/ xfire utility mixed together with news feeds, updates, and is also gaming client manager.
basically, steam manages your games and allows you to play them and update them through steam. you can purchase games via steam and download them quite fast through steams servers.
i would suggest Gmod as it's a very innovative FPS sandbox game. also, duke nukem 3d. -
wow lol. I have steam. Sorry I just woke up. Kind of brain dead at the moment!

FEAR Combat is a boatload of fun, it's a free online multiplayer FPS. It will run great on your notebook.
Half Life 2: Episode 1 and Episode 2 are great if you played HL1/HL2 already. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan

BenLeonheart walk in see this wat do?
Fear was great, loved every minute of it, nice overall atmosphere...
UT3 is awesome, its fast paced.... UT99, 2k3 or 2k4 would get ur blood pumping, its really cool, UT3 would run great too...
Bioshock... hm...i personally liked it, the mood, setup, etc... but... but... it didnt quite have that spark that I need in my games... and by spark I mean... it doesnt quite urge me or tickle me in any way so that I can come back and play it.
COD4 was awesome as well, very interesting single player, i just loved it... now, multiplayer is a mixed soup... you either love it, or hate it, i loved the realism, loved the knifing... but I found myself playing BF2 multiplayer over cod4's.
try serious sam, or avp2 just for fun -
FEAR could`ve used more maps and more stuff, it always felt like it was lacking elements, always just buildings and soldiers.
-
INEEDMONEY Homicidal Teddy Bear
I wish Battlefield: Bad Company was on PC...but then again I don't think the maps could support too many players in one game
-
FEAR and Crysis would be my top recommendations as well.
-

Does Crysis have alot of online players? I don't hear too much about its online play specifically although I hear its a good game. I plan to get it whenever I get a new lappy

While it may be older, the only FPS you will ever need is Warren Specter's "Deus Ex"
-
Just finished $20 Steam download of STALKER. Wow, my new GOTY! Has issues with 8800 cards but still a great FPS.
-
I would also recommend HL2: Fake Factory mod. If you don't regularly play HL2, this is a great mod that polishes up the graphics and adds new character textures. Alyx ends up looking like Adriana Lima, the supermodel. The creator also adds some different music to the game, it's cool and reminds me of Batman Begins.
EDIT 1: Fake Factory is also used in Episodes 1 & 2.
EDIT 2: To hydra, what kind of issues did you have with STALKER? I ran it with a desktop 8800gts and didn't experience anything substantial that I can recall. -
DoD source
Deus Ex series
Unreal series
Any rainbow six game
Best FPS IMO.
Quake 4 is ok, it looks good but is missing an engaging story
Doom 3 for run and gun
the Battlefield series
Star Wars: Republic Commando and Battlefront
Far Cry is older but good -
Your desktop may be running newer drivers?
I found others with same problems by searching these forums..
Update; Just fired up with everything set to max and it does not crash!??! ..and I played the whole game with static lighting!! I wanted to search for the error code I first encounterd..
Time to replay with mods.. -
