i dunno why you guys think these are not appropriate for an 11 yr old girl. i played much much worse and watched much worse at a younger age. the age restriction is mostly just a matter of what the parents will let their children play.

i would strongly be against buy her gta IV not because of the games content but because it runs terribly on almost if not all laptops. ive only seen highend desktops run this well.

The Prince of Persia series is pretty good, and no gore worth speaking off. Warrior Within is a bit brutal and is probably the hardest of the series, but I guess you'd be able to skip that. The other three games ( Sands of Time, Two Thrones, and the latest reboot) are all good.

I really liked Advent Rising. Again, lots of action and "violence", but it's all sci-fi violence. Psionic powers are a plus.

Console ports could be good. I know they're not really good games, but I'm a fan of the Dynasty/Samurai Warriors series. Off the top of my head, there are Dynasty Warriors 6 and Warriors Orochi. She might even learn some really loose interpretations of Chinese history, too.

Portal could be good with its female protagonist and puzzles. Although some of the (dark) humor might go over her head.

We all know you just wanted to shoot a little girl in a pub. For shame, man.

I'm pretty sure it will run on her laptop. but I have it on PS3, & I don't think it's a good idea to install it on her laptop because she might try to play online.

because people online don't know how to act when they hear a girls voice.

With the latest patches it runs alright, it will run alright. But I was joking, GTA IV has some content which I don't think would be suitable for an 11 year old girl.

And you know, I just realised that an 11 year old girl has a better laptop than me...

    Son, I am disappoint. :(

Only an American could afford a $900 laptop for their 11 year old child, huh?

    Only an American...

Don't feel too bad she has a better laptop than me too! and I'm the one who bought it for her lol.

but not for long playing games on her laptop made me want to upgrade!

I wish you were my aunt...

Although I'm debating whether to get other relatives to pool our money together and buy my semi-nephew (That side of my family is Filipino, and with Filipino's everyone's a niece or nephew.) a netbook.

Huh. Somewhere along the way I assumed you were an aunt.

I'd take a 210 pound male black aunt. You'd be the life of the party I'd bet.

There are some free games like the Secret Maryo Chronicles and such you might look into.

There are lots of free to play, open-source games here: http://osswin.sourceforge.net/games.html

Some don't have Windows versions, but they don't cost anything but bandwidth and disk space to try.
