This probably has been asnwered before in some threads but I didn't find anything result with the search..

I would like to know, and if please someone can share his experience, whar is the difference in performance between the 445M 192kbit and the 555M.
I have been told that the 555M its a 445M rebranded but slighlty OC's, and the benchmark result suppose to be almost the same..

Then, why here is stated that the 555M its a high end GPU and the 445M its just a midrange GPU?

Comparison of Laptop Graphics Cards - Notebookcheck.net Tech

Would I be able to the reach the same performances as the 555M if I overclock my 445M?

    Someone maybe tried both?

    Thanks in advance!

First, notebookcheck's GPU ranking system is rigged and can't be trusted, take everything there(maybe except technical datas like ROP count, frequencies) with a grain of salt, especially their infamous benchmarks. It's a good site to look up some technical details of a card, and that's about it.

Second, the classification of high end and midrange is highly subjective, everyone has a different point of view of what's high end and what's below high end. A lot of folks here on NBR seem to regard 460M and above as high end, because they are capable of running most of modern games at 1080p with relatively high details on, anything lower would be considered midrange.

About 445m and 555m, there ain't much difference between the two besides clock speed, yes, you can easily match or even exceed the performance of a 555m through overclocking.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

Since I can play Crysis 2 at medium settings with no problems for now, I will wait for a while before start to OC's my 445M, but since my laptop is just six months old, is nice to know that I still have a pretty capable GPU in it. :)

Would you mind posting a GPU-Z shot of your 445M?

No problem, will you create a thread with all the GPU screenshots? (joking) :p

    LOL.... ;)

    That's actually something I've considered.

I currently have around 35 mobile cards in my GPU-Z repository. I have a few gaps to fill.

    Should I?

I think it is a great idea too, and maybe we could go a little further than that and create a chart that ranks mobile GPUs, it doesn't have to include every single mobile GPU on the market, the idea is to give us a good place to look up mobile GPU info, compare different cards, notebookcheck kinda makes me sick with their ridiculous ranking.

Yes, strongly agree too with the people above!

It's something that I was thinking too, to be honest, but I don't have data..
it would be extremely helpful to get information and everyone could post his own screenshot! We could also see overclocked cards screenshot!! It would be a fantastic thread, I am in! :D
