    Help me out here, im not up to date at all since the 8xx series. So what is the next gen Nvidia for laptops called after the 1xxx series? And when is the release date?

    Turing or RTX/20 series. I've been told Q1 2019 hard launch. Paper launch will probably be sometime at the end of the year.

    Thanks. My current gpu can play all games on high but not at 1080 anymore so Im thinking getting the 1060m now or the 2060 when it comes out but I don't wanna wait 3 or more months.

    If you don't want to wait 3 more months getting something now is probably your best bet. I don't think even the desktop 2060 is going to be available in 3 months, they're having a hard enough time meeting demand for the stuff that's already released, and the 2070 has only been available for a few days.

    That's what I'm getting at, it's desktop. Laptop parts are probably not as close as 3 months. But there's no way for anyone to know unless you're nVidia. It's all just speculation.

    One thing I will say, after seeing a 2080 struggle under some RT loads in recent demos, I wouldn't bank on any laptop friendly TDP parts being good at it this generation.

    I hope the mobile GTX/RTX 2060 is decent enough, as I'm planning to buy a laptop next year. I don't care if it doesn't get ray tracing cores, just give me a good performance bump over the 1060.

    Card TDPs seem to go up, games keep pushing for more and more power, while the laptop market seems to be pushed towards thinner and lighter. Perhaps someday, AAA gaming on laptops will need either not-terribly-mobile eGPUs or bandwidth-hungry streaming services.

    That means they posted something that was correct for once.

    I saw the original article.

    They said in January at CES Nvidia is leading off with mobile versions of:

    RTX 2070
    RTX 2060 Ti
    RTX 2060
    RTX 2050 Ti
    RTX 2050

    The mobile RTX 2080 Has been delayed and will be released later.
