You can play any game you want. Just games like FEAR will struggle, and that will have to be played on medium settings. Most other games will run great on high settings. But the X1600 in the macbook pro is underclocked by a lot! I believe it is @ 350/350. In other notebooks it is usually 450/450 and you can usually get it to at least 500/500. I would highly suggest overclocking and updating drivers. Just be sure to monitor those temperatures. ;)

    Well

I thought that this card come only with 256MB. Is Mac different and only stocks 128MB?

It should handle all the games at pretty nice setting. However, I did read it somewhere in these forumns that macBook Pro is not designed for gaming, which means that X1600 might be underclocked in that notebook vs. other notebooks that come with it. I am not sure of this, so anybody can double check.

X1600 is W3 (which I actually have) is almost twice as good as X1600 in MBP. Generaly in my case I can play every game with all settings to max (the only exeptcion is Oblivion). Yesterday I run HL2:Episode One in native resolution (1290x768) with all settings to max, aa and af x4, with HDR on and got over 30fps on stock core/mem. Really great card in 14" machine :D

What programs are good to use to check what clockspeed your gpu is running at?

ATI Tool should work with the x1600. I still don't know what to use for my x1400 though as ATI Tool does not support the x1400 as of yet.

Powerstrip works for the x1400. You have to find build 3.63 though. The newest build, 3.65, crashes when you try to adjust the memory speed. Also, my system crashes when I do certain things while running Powerstrip, but if I just start up Powerstrip, overclock the card and then exit Powerstrip, the new clock speeds stay and everything works fine.

I was able to overclock my X1400 by 30%, but I scaled it down to 25% just in case.

jthg... trying to get your X1400 up to X700 speeds? Or faster ;) But like I said earlier. The MBP's X1600 is underclocked to 350/350mhz. The W3j's is @ 450/450. So this would make the MBP's X1600 about 25% slower than the W3j's. That's without overclocking.

Look at the system requirements for the games - if you meet them, you can play. We really do get a lot of threads similar to this and no offense, but please look around and see what people are saying before you post.
