    hey all i`m new to this overclocking scene. I saw a lot of threads about overcloking the 8600m gt but it seems that most have the DDR2 version. The stock frequency for the DD3 is CORE 475 / Memory 700. I managed to overclock it to 665/881 with no problem at all.
    During intensive gaming (counter strike source) on video options on full HIGH settings (NO AA) i get an average of 60 fps wich is perfect. After 1 hour of playing the GPU temp was only 82 C wich apperently is quite normal for this card.
    Can i know how much you guys managed to overclock this card with it being stable?

    OK sorry for another post . BUt what program do you guys use ? i`m using Ntune but i see that some people use ATItool to overclock the SHAder too. Is that something you can only for with the DDR2 version or what?

    1280 x 854 my graphics card failed. i dont get it while playing counter strike it was flawless. Maybe because i used a lower resolution. Can some1 please tell me their stable overclock ? Also can i can overclock the shader on my DD3 card and what program should i use for it?

    There is no set limit for a stable over clock, all cards are different, so you have to test it yourself to see what works.

    CSS isn't a very GPU intensive game, but when you run 3dmark it's pretty much testing your GPU to the max, so that doesn't seem like a completely stable over clock.

    Also, your shader speed is dependent on your core speed, just doubled. So at stock your shader will be 900 ( 450x2 ), an over clocked core @ 600 will have a shader of 1200 ( 600x2 )

    OK guys here are my findings for now :
    Specs: 7300 2.ghz processor 2gb ram (you know the graphic card)
    3DMark06 - 1024 x 768
    Standard (No OC) = 4335
    OC " 556/761 " = 4869
    OC "661/803 " = 5200

    I think that`s a nice result what do you guys think? Should i try a bit more or test the same OC with a 1280x854 resolution? The gpu didn`t go more then 83 C while running these tests

    EDIT= 1280x854

    OC "661/803 " = 4523

    The GPU temp went up to max 90 C. Is that something to worry about or not?

    The standard resolution for testing 3dmark06 is 1280x1024. Try that one and post your results.

    FYI, your memory is actually clocked at 440.5mhz (real mem clock), 881mhz is your effective memory clock. 700mhz is GDDR3 version's real memory clock, which has an effective memory clock of 1400mhz.
