Ive been lookig like crazy for a laptop to replace my desktop because of my changing life and uses for the computer. One of the main things i will be doing on my laptop will be gaming.

My original desktop had a 6600gt and got a 3dmark05 of around 3600. This is a little less than a s/z96j. The big difference comes in running 3dmark06. My old deskotp gets 600 while the s96j gets arounf 2000.

Does this mean i will get much better preformance out of the laptop in newer games?

I would be surprised if that laptop actually gets less than 3600 in 3dmark05. Most x1600 users get 3800-4300. In short, yes, you should see better performance out of the laptop in newer or older games... assuming you have at least as much RAM and as good or better CPU.

An ATI Radeon X1600 should outperform the 6600GT to begin with, moreso in newer games. Surprised you got such a low score in 3DMark06 with that card.

Yea i thought it was little low to. 3Dmark06 also likes randomly to lock up adn throw errors in the middle of testing (no its not a heat issue, Ive got fans up the wazoo). Who knows.
